Photos not showing up in Photo Stream at all since update 15.4

Although the change of settings worked for me the photo stream is still a little hir and miss! Not all photos come across. Can’t work out why some do and some don’t!

i can take two photos one after the other and one will appear in photo stream and the other one doesn’t!

Did you just upgrade to iOS 15.4? The upgrade may have changed the Camera Settings and my Photo Stream does not support all formats.

Please check the Settings > Camera > Formats. Set it to "Most Compatible", if it should currently be set to "High Efficiency".

Then try again to take a normal photo (not Live, not a video) and see, if it will appear in my Photo Stream.

Yep, that was also my issue on my iPhone 13. Changed to Most Compatible, and my pictures started uploading again. But, what is interesting is that my iPad is set to "High Efficiency", and those photos upload just fine. So what gives?

Which system version is running on the iPad? IOS 15.4.1 is causing the problems, I am not sure about iPadOS 15.4.1.

I think I have figured out what is going on. Prior to 15.4.1, the IOS on my iPhone 13, would convert the 12MP HEIF files to 3MP jpeg and send them up to Photo Stream. That stopped in 15.4.1, which is why none of my photos after April 17th uploaded. The question is if Apple did it on purpose or a SW bug. There are some reports that Apple wants to stop "My Photo Stream", and force everyone to pay for storage and use iCloud Photos. So it's not that the choice of format was somehow changed during the update, as I have had my iPhone on HEIF since day one (last October).

My iPad is still on 15.3.1 (have not received the option to update yet), so that is most likely why my iPad still works with the format set to HEIF.

Assuming Apple did NOT intentionally drop the auto conversion, then we all need to file a bug report with Apple, and hopefully they will return the auto conversion to jpeg for Photo Stream in the next IOS update.

What is sad, is that the person at Apple Support that was "helping" me yesterday, had absolutely zero clue as to the problem.

That's my 2 cents worth.....

iPad IOS 15.4.1 here with high efficiency selected in camera settings and my photo stream works as anticipated, loads both screenshots and photos to MyPhoto Stream just fine. Looks like a bug with iOS 15.4.1

Good to know it works correctly on the iPad 15.4.1, as I just got the notice to update mine from 15.3. Seems to be just a bug with the iPhones. The more people that file a bug report the better.....

Just a heads up, I don’t believe iPad 15.4.1 is working correctly. My iPad is on 15.4.1 and only photos taken in the “Most Compatible” format go to the Photo Stream. Photos taken in the “High Efficiency” format are not going to the Photo Stream.

OK thanks good to know. Perhaps JeepsterStuff meant he was on 15.3.1? I really need it to be fixed on on iPhone in any case, as I think I have used the camera on my iPad perhaps 3 times. The most was testing out this current Photo Stream Bug.

OMG.. THANK YOU! This one was driving me NUTS!@# I've always counted on my photo stream to share photos..etc wtf Apple!!!

previous searches told me to log-out of iCloud, etc.

Thanks again for the valuable tip. Hope Apple fixes this (as I think high efficiency is preferable no?)

Thanks léonie this fixed it for me. Looked everywhere in iCloud settings, logged on and off but never thought about an incorrect camera setting after the 15.4 update…🤓

Why can’t my screenshots show up in photos any more?

I’m glad it is working again for you. But in the long run you will have to find a replacement, it looks like Apple were trying to get rid of it.
