I have been using an external DVI display with my MacBook Pro via an adapter with the mini-display cable plugged into a Henge Doc, and a USB mouse, for the past year with no problem. Now the laptop no longer recognizes the display or mouse. Help!

I have been using an external DVI display with my MacBook Pro via an adapter with the mini-display cable plugged into a Henge Doc, along with a USB mouse also plugged into the Henge Doc, for the past year with no problem. Yesterday, I went into my office for first time in 2 years, and none of the peripherals would function - my laptop recognized the Henge Doc but it would not charge through it as a power adapter, and wouldn't synch the USB and mini-display ports. The Displays window doesn't show an extended display and doesn't give me the option to discover. It only recognizes the laptop. I have shut down and left the computer off overnight, unplugged everything, plugged it all back in and powered up, still no connections to display or mouse. I charged the laptop via the power cable overnight.
