I have a 2013 Mac Pro SSD is not showing up in the utility list or in the terminal, but does show in about this Mac. Only the base boot drive shows up in the utility list and terminal. Any ideas on how to get the computer to read the SSD? Just installed a new SSD from OWC with same issue.
If you have installed a third party NVMe SSD, then you need to boot from macOS 10.13+ in order to see the SSD. Your screenshot shows you have macOS 10.13 installed, but I'm guessing when you boot into Recovery Mode you are booting into macOS 10.9 which originally shipped with the Mac Pro. In this case you will need to create a bootable macOS 10.13+ USB installer using the instructions in this Apple article:

FYI, within Disk Utility you will need to click "View" and select "Show All Devices" in order to see the physical drive on the left pane of Disk Utility (macOS 10.13+).
Big Sur 11.6.1 is highest I am able to run. If let’s say the PCI SSD in the Mac is good that came with the with the computer when I bought it(2nd hand). How would I do a factory reset if the Mac HD is not populating as a location to reinstall the OS?
I do have access to other Mac’s I have an 2011 MacBook Pro and iMac and I have iMac mini M1. So your saying I can link up and update the firmware in order to recognize the aftermarket internal SSD. Then I can do a factory reset without any issues.
when I went to the utility disk everything was greyed out. I can double check, but wouldn’t it show on the diskutil list in the terminal even if the SSD wasn’t showing in the Utility disk?

I have Big Sur installed. Monterey is for M1 chips not Intel. Looks like utility disk is only reading the partition and not recognizing the whole SSD..
Not sure how to get to the rest of the SSD…
I will try that. Hopefully that works. I wasn’t sure if the internal SSD was the apple or not.
I appreciate the advice and yes it is bought 2nd hand hand Mac and haven’t run into this issue before it is new to me. And yes I am well aware that is not the original apple SSD now…
