Check the range of the mobile network, see this Apple article: If you see No Service or Searching on your iPhone or iPad

That isn’t the problem, auto join is on. My phone connects to the Wi-Fi it just doesn’t work until I turn it off and then back on.

Are you using VPN? Or do you have it installed even if you are not using it?

Is your network name (SSID) unique?

Do you have a problem with all Wi-Fi networks, or one particular network?

Have you restarted your router?

Have you “forgotten” the network and reconnected?

Have you tried Reset Network Settings?

It has to be the update. My phone updated last night and now it does connect to my Wi-Fi but there is no internet access, while all other devices connected to the same Wi-Fi have internet access. The update is the only thing that changed. my computers (personal, work, others in the house) are connecting to the Wi-Fi and working just fine. Some use VPN, others don't. Apple, FIX IT!

If you use VPN that is almost certainly the cause. After any update VPN may need to be deleted and reinstalled because it’s “fingers” in the protocol stack may have moved. And your router may need to be restarted after an update because the phone’s “lease” has become void and needs to be re-established.

If neither of those steps fix it post back for other things to check.

BTW, there is nothing for Apple to “fix” - hundreds of millions of phones that have been updated do not have this problem. It is a problem with your phone; if you want Apple to fix the problem with your phone take it to a genius bar.

And also, Apple does not read this user to user forum for imperious demands from users. That’s what the Get Support link is for.

When there is a widespread problem you will see literally thousands of posts about it. The record is 13,000 posts and 3 million views about a problem 8 years ago that affected 5 million of the 100 million iPhones sold at that time. Apple users are very vocal, and will raise their voices about any issue that is bothering them.

So the number of posts about a problem is a good indication of how widespread the problem is. If you contact Apple support the problem is logged, and if Apple sees a large number of similar issues they will investigate it. If you just complain here Apple won’t see it, and won’t know if it is a problem or how widespread it is.

I’m having the same Wi-Fi drop issues ever since the latest update. Very annoying. Apple is very slow at correcting issues even when attention to it from its customers is brought up. For what they charge for their products you’d think they would be more timely.

Are you using a VPN connection? If you are, delete the VPN app and the VPN profile and see if that fixes it. If it does, you can try reinstalling the VPN and it may work.

Something to think about→Don't use VPN - GITHUB

There are two legitimate purposes for using VPN:

To allow access to a private network such as a school or business when you are not on site.

To allow access outside of a country with a repressive government that has restricted Internet access. (This has suddenly become more important)

Any other use is risky, and can lead to problems like the one discussed in this thread. VPN disguises your location by making you appear to be somewhere else in the world. But you usually can’t control that “somewhere else”, and if it is in a location that an app isn’t approved for the app won’t work. Plus the fact that the provider of the VPN knows everything about you and your location, as well as what sites you access through the VPN. So you are totally dependent on the VPN provider’s honesty. As a start, if the VPN is free, DON’T USE IT. The provider has to make money somehow, and if you aren’t paying them then they are selling your private data to make money. But even those that charge can’t necessarily be trusted. For example, a few years ago Avast was caught selling user browsing data. They claim they have stopped doing so.

You don’t really need VPN when using public Wi-Fi, because all communications between your device and the servers it accesses are end-to-end encrypted.

If you want VPN for privacy about the sites you visit, that’s not a good choice as discussed; instead you should download and use the TOR browser.

With iOS 15.2 for iOS/iPadOS and MacOS Monterey 12.2 and later Apple now has iCloud+ Private Relay, which is like a super VPN, except that it doesn't spy on you→About iCloud Private Relay - Apple Support

I’ve removed my personal VPN, I use for Norton security. Didn’t help. Performed all other steps suggested here; nothing… My husband’s Android, our Windows laptops and our TV all have internet connection. I get it to connect to Wi-Fi on my iPhone but none of my apps work unless I disconnect from Wi-Fi and let it use the 5G connection only.

I must agree with everyone here that it’s the iOS update that is to blame.

Apr 25, 2022 3:55 PM in response to IAllsop1

Same exact experience for us. The ONLY wi-fi connection not working is ANY wifi based connection to my iPhone 13 ever since I installed the system update. My iPhone 11 works just fine. I had to remove the SIM card from my iPhone 13 and slip it back into the old iPhone 11. That phone and all wifi connections work perfectly. It is only the iPhone 13 that no longer works with *any*wifi network, whether that network belongs to me or someone else (i.e. my work wifi).

Even though I didn't purchase my iPhone 13 from Best Buy, when I went there a month ago to pay for an expert to install my new screen protector, the tech convinced me to spend $200 and buy a year of support and protection for my iPhone. Which is where I am going next week when I have a day off from work to see if they can help me.

Good observation. VPN is the most common cause of Wi-Fi and cellular data problems. And you really don’t need VPN unless you need to access a private work or school network or you live in a country with a repressive government that blocks or monitors your Internet activity. It offers no benefits, causes various connectivity problems, and slows down your Internet connections. Plus it allows your VPN provider to monitor your Internet activities, which means you need to trust them.

After many many years, Losing trust in this company, glitchy updates, poor user interface (stacks), if it ain’t broke…updated 15.4.1, no previous issues, iPhone 12 says Wi-Fi connected on settings but shows 3g, and also shows connected blue tick but underneath a red , ‘no internet connection ‘ !!!

highly unstable

Same issue as everyone else, updated and now my family has very slow and intermittent wifi on our iPads and phones...and no...I do not have a VPN. I did speak with Xfinity, as I wanted to make sure it was not an internet issue, and the gentlemen on the phone said they are getting a lot of calls about this with people thinking it is their internet...he was aware that the issues are with iPhones and iPads and that there was nothing on their end. The only suggestion was to wait for Apple to fix it. Come on Apple, you can do better!
