:macOS Monterey broke webcams running MJPEG

How do I add MJPEG webcam support back into MacOS.

This is supposed to be a professional system, and it’s crippled my gear, (Logitech 4K Pro webcams) which Apple sells.

How can we fix this? Or when will it be fixed?

id rather not have to buy a Surface or other cheap windows machine just to get my gear working again (it works fine in Windows).

Yes, I have done all that, and checked with Logitech, cameras still only have NV12 as an option for 4K, which drops frames and falls further and further behind when using 3 of them.

This all worked fine in Big Sur (and intel CPU, until I upgraded to Monterey), but I can't roll back to Big Sur with an M1 Pro CPU.

I'm guessing that when Monterrey got rid of MJPEG for quicktime (as is listed in the change notes), they also got rid of it for any decoding. So, my cameras are now crippled to 1080p if I don't want dropped frames and slowly longer delays.

To get ahead of the next part, they're all connected and showing up as USB 3 with full 5gbit connections, which is the full speed supported by these cameras.

Hello Hadrion,

To help resolve the issue with your webcam, make sure there aren't any updates available on your Mac for the webcam: Use the App Store to update apps on Mac

Update from the App Store
• Update from the Updates pane: Click Updates in the sidebar, then click Update beside each app that you want to update, or click Update All.

• Update from the Discover, Create, Work, Play, Develop, and Categories areas: Click the Update button next to an app.

Update from the Apple menu

1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu , then see if you have any updates available.

The number of updates appears to the right of App Store in the menu.

2. To get your updates, choose App Store.

3. After App Store opens, click Updates in the sidebar.

Make sure your camera is compatible with your macOS version. Contact Logitech Support to see if there is any additional software needed: Logitech Support + Download

Best Regards.
