I am also experiencing this problem.
I have 42 TERABYTES of voice memos. Tech support states that this measurement also takes into consideration voice memos in your imessages.
I imagine this also has a correlation to the “bug” where backup are waay larger than the storage you have on your phone.
Apple needs to provide a way to filter on saved attachments in imessage that may contribute to impossible to manage backups.
particularly voice memos, which if this problem is the direct cause of huge backups is ridiculous.
42 terabytes of voice memos?
And my only option is to delete all my messages? To some, that’s fine. -but I have years worth of conversations I prefer to keep.
i don’t even use voice messages in iMessage enough to imagine how 42 terabytes of storage could have accumulated, and the real question is.
If my voice memos do not persist in the app, where is this storage going? And why am I accountable for audio files I no longer have any access to.
I have had EVERY iPhone that has ever existed and every time I go to backup something happens,
boot loops and I lose my data.
corruption, and I lose my data.
apple needs to be more transparent and on top of this ongoing issue.
”pointing someone in the right direction” is not the answer
