Refurbished iPhone Products | Apple Certified

Hello Apple Community,

As a frequent Apple User I was wondering whether all Apple Stores still sell refurbished iPhones. As a student I am looking to purchase an affordable-priced iPhone such as the iPhone 11 Pro, but in the refurbished status and that is certified by Apple. To my knowledge, most of Apple’s refurbished products are mostly sold in third-party stores for instance; JB-HI FI, Harvey Norman and Dick Smith and all of which I believe aren’t Apple Certified refurbishments, but are mostly refurbished in third-party repair companies, and to my knowledge these companies don’t use Apple Certified repair components. These may have an impact on the user of the refurbished item and can result in poor quality aspects of the product such as using an instalment of a Non-Apple Certified battery pack for the iPhone.

Question: Is there any Apple Store that still sell Refurbished-Apple Certified products in-store?

Yours Sincerely,

Perth, Apple User

Apple doesn’t sell third party refurbished devices.

Apple certified refurbished devices, refurbished by Apple are only sold through Apple online store.

Apple has no control over what third party retailers sell.

My advice is not to buy any refurbished devices from anyone but the original manufacturer.

There aren't necessarily that many Apple devices that are sold as retail refurbished devices that have Apple's "blessing". Those would be refurbished by Apple, an Apple contract manufacturer, or possibly one of Apple's partners. It gets confusing because some of Apple's partners may also refurbish devices on their own without Apple's input. As others noted, they generally don't sell them in store. They really have little incentive to do so as that would likely be spreading them out too thin rather than just selling them online and shipping from warehouses.

Certainly a good number of Apple's officially refurbished devices are their replacement units to replace devices that are damaged beyond simple repair and/or malfunctioning while under warranty. Some may even be provided in lieu of a simple service such as battery replacement. Then the exchanged devices will be checked out, receive new parts if needed, and then be repaired to Apple's standards for refurnished devices. If there's any limit on the number of refurbished devices sold at retail, it would probably be in order to stock these replacement units.

An Apple official retail refurbished device will have its model number starting with an F. Apple replacement devices will have that starting with an N.
