Compressor exports a video with 2 video streams when using prores

I have a very strange and frustrating problem with compressor. When I export a movie to prores it comes out with 2 video streams for some reason. There is the expected prores video stream, but then there is also a hidden motion jpeg video stream.

The only way around this that I have found is to take the exported movie and re-export it in Adobe Media Encoder using the exact same settings that I used in compressor. It comes out of media encoder with 1 video stream.

I'll attach a screenshot of my settings in compressor

I am trying to submit movies for distribution with filmhub.com and this second video stream is causing my movies to fail their quality control.

Any ideas why compressor is doing this and how to force it to only export 1 video stream?

I have been exporting the movie from final cut to Proress 422, then I re-export that file form davinci resolve to prores 422 again. That seems to be working and davinci resolve is free so that's the best workaround I've found so far.

Do you see a second stream or a frame of JPEG in MediaInfo? Can you post a copy of the report?

Does the same happen if you export with a default Apple ProRes 422 setting?

That's the strange thing, when I inspect the movie on my computer I can't find any info about a second stream. This info about a second stream is coming from the people reviewing the movie at filmhub.

I will also include a screen shot of the results from mediaInfo. That app gives more detail.

I created the custom setting by dragging the standard Apple Prores 422 preset onto the movie, then adjusting the settings. Then I dragged the customized preset from the movie to the sidebar on the left. The custom settings I made changed the audio but not the video settings, so the custom one should have the same settings as the standard prores 422 preset.

I'm pretty sure the same thing happens when I use the standard prores 422 preset. The files look the same when I inspect them in the media info app.

I can't find the second stream in MediaInfo, that's the frustrating part. It seems like only filmhub's proprietary software can detect the second motion jpeg stream. I'll attach my Mediainfo report and a screenshot that they sent me from filmhub.

I am facing this same problem at filmhub. My ProRes .mov files are rejected by their QC due to 'multiple video files'. My guess is that somehow the third track 'timecode' is being interpreted by them as a second video track. I am next going to try ProRes HQ as well as a high bitrate .mp4 to see if filmhub likes either of them better. John Woods

Thanks for the reply and the tip. I now have Media Encoder up for a week's free trial. But, it only let's me make a ProRes file with .mxf wrapper. Now, FilmHub does not list ,mxf wrapper in their allowed input formats. What to do now? Thanks, John

Thanks for the word on da Vinci Resolve. I will plan to try it. As to Appel's ProRes, I can offer this guess: They designed it to help with editing. Editing needs small image icons for the timeline. If they are included in the ProRes file itself, then it makes it easier on the editing machine. John

In the other thread a single JPEG frame was appearing, but that was a few years ago. I'm wondering if the poster frame is somehow appear as a separate stream.
