Opening .ICS file on iPhone or iPad

when opening an ICS file iOS shows me came set details but provides no “add to calendar” button.

I find it frustrating that sometimes community forum posts get closed with no resolution to share with the community, just asking the poster to contact support. I’m having the same problem as identified in the below link on a previous post. I’ve seen a few other posts with this exact same concern. I’ve had the issue for several years now but I’ve never found a resolution because I am always worn down by Apple support.

It is, frankly frustrating, but I’ll try not to complain.

anyone have a resolution for this? What is interesting when I open the ICS file (using a 3rd party mail app) it does temporarily place the item on my calendar and then my only option is to close the file (“X out”) and then the file deletes. I only know this because I have a shared calendar and the person who my share the calendar with gets notifications that it’s been added and immediately deleted. They are about to kill me.

Unfortunately this does not address the issue originally described.

The issue has nothing to do with adding a calendar but rather an individual calendar invite from a third-party app. There is no “add to calendar“ button on the invite as you would expect an opening the ICS file from a third-party app.

When you open the ICS file from either Safari or the native Apple Mail app to add to calendar button is there, but from a third-party app the add to calendar button is not there.
