How to change the 'Open with..' settings?

I work a lot with graphics and with the new .webp extensions I can't just right-click on an image and pick my graphics program from the 'Open with..' list. How can add the .webp extension to the settings so I get my graphics program on the list? Thank you!

A properly installed app should be there without any special action. You may have to use the app for while for your system to "learn" it's there. I have noted some apps show up later than others

Have you restarted lately? If not, please do so. If no joy, start in safe mode, let it sit for maybe ten minutes, then reboot normally and retest.

After doing some research I found a couple of quick workaround for this. One suggestion was to click-drag the file to the app in the dock you want it to open with while holding down the [option]+[command] keys, this will force the app to open the file even if it doesn't recognize it. Option 2 (which I chose to do) is to create a QuickAction item which shows up on the right-click menu under QuickActions.

Thank for the response ku4hx, however I do not want to change the default app because I use Preview to quick preview images (a LOT of them) each day, just want to add my graphics program as an available option on the right-click menu so if an image needs editing I can quick open it with the graphics program. Right now if I want to edit a .webp image I have to go into the graphics program and try to find that picture from there making it time consuming and ineffective.
