macOS Monterey opening folders as a new window instead of tabs not working

We see that you'd rather open folders in tabs versus new windows. We'd recommend verifying the following settings on Change how folders open in the Finder on Mac:

On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click General.

Click the “Prefer tabs when opening documents” pop-up menu, then choose an option:

• never: Open folders in a new window, not a tab.
• in full screen: Open folders in a tab only when you’re working in full screen.
• always: Open folders in a new tab.

You'll want it set to Always.

Hello, I have try both but it still not working on macOS Monterey.

Nothing has changed in this regard in more than a decade.

Please be clearer as to what is not working as you expected. You should probably start a new thread and give details so people can help.

In addition to what ShannonM1 said, also look into Finder->Preferences and make sure that

"Open folders in tabs instead of new windows"

is NOT checked.

Did you hide the Toolbar?

I personally likes this feature, however currently Apple they’re update a lot then make the existing custom functions not working.

I use Mac OS almost fives years now.
