USB superdrive keeps randomly ejecting

I have now gone through 2 USB super drives.

When listening to CDs or ripping to Apple Music, the CD randomly my ejects halfway through a song.

I have a Macbook Pro M1 Max (2021) so the drive is connected to the USB-C via a USB-C to USB apple converter. I have tried 3 different converters and the issue still randomly happens. The first drive was only a few hours old and this replacement I just plugged in and it is doing it. I have tried on other ports but still the same thing.

Apple Support has said this shouldn't be happening. I have reinstalled the OS, run in safe mode, and still no joy.

Does anyone know why this is happening and how to prevent it?

I have a non-apple DVD drive that has no issues with playing and ripping CDs. but I just wanted to keep everything Apple. If it can't be sorted I may have to change to a non-Apple drive.
