I am figuring out how to use push with Gmail from 1 year and still unsuccessful. I know it is not supported by Gmail but Apple, You should do something about it
You don't unless you have a paid gmail account.
Google removed support for push mail for free accounts years ago.
How do you have it set up in the mail app? You need to set it up as an Exchange account to get push mail from google.
