I'm trying to connect a Mac running Catalina to one running High Sierra. The HS Mac shows up in Finder, I can also share the screen of the HS Mac but it won't let me Connect As Registered Use. The HS Mac is set for access for All users and file sharing is on.

All sorted! I did what you showed, but I think the main issue was that I wasn't entering my name correctly it's two words but I didn't have a space between them, as soon as I put a space in it all magically worked.
