Copying songs

I have the lastest version of Itunes and synch it with two devices, my Iphone and an old 5th generation Ipod. I use the ipod for podcast only and dont copy music to it.

I might add 10 songs over the course of a week to my phone. When I synch it , it alsmost alwasy finds I need to copy 400 songs, sometimes it will be more and as I watch these songs being copied, I see songs I am sure I have on my pc. Why does my phone see so many songs that need to be copied when Ive only added afew?

Hello pursuant2019,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

If we understand your post correctly, you want o know why your phone is downloading so many songs when you only added a few. We'd like to help!

If your entire iTunes library is syncing every time you connect your iPhone, you may want to try setting up syncing in iTunes again by following the steps in the article below.

Intro to syncing in iTunes on PC

You can also try un-checking and then re-checking the "Sync music" checkbox in iTunes.

Thank you

I did a test today to see what would happen if I didnt make any changes to my library. In Itunes I changed the setting to manage manually and it went through the process. I didnt see any option to add any files manually when that synch had finished. I then changed the setting back to automatic and it found 208 songs that needed to be copied. I then disconnected my iphone and reconnected it. This time it found 398 songs that needed to be synched, again no changes were made to my library. I have a large library, close to 8000 songs. I still cant tell what is happening>
