Logic Pro was not able to complete the download? Sound Library

I've just downloaded the Logic X content on the latest version and had to wait 4 hours for it to grab everything.

After this time, it said

''Logic Pro was not able to complete the download. Check your Internet connection and try downloading again.''

I know i have a secure Internet connection, so what happened?

Using Logic afterwards seemed to lock up and be unresponsive?

So I downloaded again for another 3-4hrs and again get :

''Logic Pro was not able to complete the download. Check your Internet connection and try downloading again.'' ??

Can anyone tell me what is happening here?

How do i check what content i do have?

And how I get the full Sound Library and Apple loops (80Gb?) so that i can use everything?

Trying out Logic, it seems i have some of the instruments loading in the sidebar, so some of it has installed right?

I have 8TB Internal drive, so definetly have enough room for the full install library!

Ok so I have tried the downloading in much smaller chunks, one at a time, by Open Sound Library Manager and choosing (checking) the missing libraries manually.

I still get this error :

''Logic Pro was not able to complete the download. Check your Internet connection and try downloading again'

Then when I close Logic, and re-open it asks if I want to continue this download?

I press yes and again it seems to show an install box.

When this completes, it again comes up with :

''Logic Pro was not able to complete the download. Check your Internet connection and try downloading again'

DATE TODAY: AUGUST 9th 2022 - Ive noticed a large amount of these posts are spread across many years, so some of the fixes may not work anymore and some of the advice isn't valid anymore. That said, this fix may not work forever either, so I guess in short: Pay attention to the post dates for issues as generic as this, because reasons.

A Work Around Tested On 10.7.3 on macOS Monterey 12.4.

  1. Open Logic Pro.
  2. Upon seeing the "Resume content download?" pop-up, choose CANCEL. Do not choose either of the other two options. They will just loop the cycle over and over.
  3. After hitting CANCEL, Create a new, Empty Project". Choose a 'Drummer' track type with 'Songwriter' as the drummer type, and hit "Create". Hopefully this will bring up a Some additional content is needed for this project. Do you want to download it now? pop-up, but it's not required to get this to stop looping.
  4. If the "Download it now?" pop-up DID come up, click No/Cancel and then Close out of the project immediately. Do not save changes on exit.
  5. Re-load Logic Pro. It should be clear this time around, or at least flushed so that you can retry the downloads with a new cache.
  6. There is no number 6. OR IS THERE.......

Good luck, I hope this helps a few of you.

As mentioned in a previous comment, I was able to resolve this issue by simply updating my Logic version. Although I thought I was on the latest update of Logic, I was one version behind, and updating to the current version of the app let me download everything without a problem.

Apple should definitely change the error message, but in the meantime, see if you're on the latest version!

Hi there, it looks like this is an issue on Apple's side (i.e. some sort of a server error or something like that). There'd been another question just like yours a few weeks ago, but I don't recall what solution worked in that case exactly.

If you can, try using a VPN to make your Mac look like it's connecting to Apple's content distribution servers from a different location (ideally, from another continent, say, Europe, if you're in the US, and vice versa).
