ipad mini 6 need to reboot in order to charge it

ipad mini 6 needs to reboot in order to charge it now(sometimes reboot once, and sometimes reboot more than once is needed). Used to be, just plug in, and it starts charging, but recently even when I plug in, it does not charge a bit at all (while I use the original plug and wire)

These support pages should help with troubleshooting battery and charging issues:

Charge and monitor the iPad battery - Apple Support

If your iPad won't charge – Apple Support

Troubleshooting generally requires substitution of the Power Adapter and cable for another known-good item. Be aware that most models of iPad require a Power Adapter rated at 12W or greater to reliably charge. 5W Power Adapters intended for older models of iPhone are inadequate to charge an iPad; if the iPad charges at all, charging will be very slow.

If you continue to experience difficulties when using an appropriate Power Adapter of 12W or greater, you might be best advised to seek assistance directly from from Apple Support - and request a remote diagnostic test. You can contact the Support Team using the Get Support link at top-right of this page. Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

You might also visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad, Power Adapter and cable(s):

I have this problem every so many weeks and this has been happening for several months now. So wondering if it was truly 15.5 that brought on the problem… 15.5 was released 16 May and I have the impression I started having this problem, while very intermittently, earlier that that.

Now again, draining while on perfectly fine cables. ☹️

Hope the fix will come soon.

My iPad Mini 6 started with this no-charge issue after OS15.5 upgrade. That's what I believe.

When Apple replaced my iPad with another one (most likely a new one that's not in retail package), I had to upgrade to the latest OS in order to restore it to what I had in back up. Once the upgrade and restoration are done, no-charge issue showed up again immediately. This led me to believe that OS 15.5 is most likely the culprit!

Just hope Apple comes up with the solution in their next big OS 16.0 upgrade (although the sooner the better with a small upgrade release)!

I brought my mini 6 in to an Apple Store for the same problem. I told the tech that it sometimes works after rebooting but it sometimes takes a hard reset. After trying 5 different cords to get it to connect to his laptop (which finally worked after rebooting my iPad) and not finding a problem, the tech implied I was just trying to con them into a new iPad. It was very frustrating. When I called to complain about the rude in-store tech, the CS person told me to try a different store. My iPad is only about 8 months old; it started about a month ago.

I guess I was lucky, first the Tech support tried different cables, plugs, and then the computer. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. But he did not assume I was tryin to score a replacement unit.

Replacing the iPad did not solve the problem, apparently it was an OS issue, but back then, nobody knew the reason. It would had been nice if Apple announce earlier that some users were experiencing such problem. I wouldn't mind waiting for the solution to come out. I certainly hope this latest update will completely remove this problem for good!
