How to resolve Slow Email Opening on macOS Monterey 12.4

Seems like ever since my Mac OS Monterey was updated to 12.4, I've had a lot of problems opening my email. I can click on the email envelope to open my email and wait a minute or so for my emails to be downloaded. Then when I click on the email to open, it only opens to show who it's from and the subject, but it may take anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes to fully open the message of the email. Even if it's only 2 or 3 lines. Normally, I could click on the email and it would open completely, whether it was an ad or a letter from someone. Has anyone else had this slow email opening problem?

Here is what worked for me today 6/26/22 (OS Monterey 12.4 on iMac). I went into Mail>Preferences>Privacy and unchecked "Protect Mail Activity." I made sure "Hide IP Address" was checked. Suddenly all my emails will open. It was taking 1-2 minutes or more every day since the last OS update. What a relief. I hope this is useful for you.

I phone is just a click away from problem fixes .it’s very efficient and progressive unbelievably conservative accessibility makes it the leading phone and service provider it’s worth the time and money to make sure u get everything the way u want with appl and keep your service updated to get quick results when updating . Iam sure your technical issue is within the storage u have to delete or move some of your accessible information and clear up some space maybe delete some pictures but the issue with your email is in the storage and memory it has a function to clear it up by itself like it’s being responsible with your information you should be resonable about your cmmunications after you update an iOS system or anything by leaving a comment about how well it works for you and apple is very decisive about its customers I almost guarantee if you make apple look good they will make you look good regardless with that beautiful phone or communication system u keep on you allday

Alas! I spoke too soon. It is broken again. No idea why it worked for a couple of minutes, but I have to wait several minutes again before mail will open. The fact that it is so random is very irksome. There seems no rhyme nor reason to this bug. You see the big empty space below the list of e-mails. There should be something there!

And why is Apple not responding here? We're on their official discussion forum aint we?

I've been complaining about this ever since Monterey 12.5 came out and Apple hasn't done a thing about it yet. We're on Monterey 12.6 now and still no help or even a whisper from them on what the problem may be. What good is this site if no one can come up with a reasonable answer to this problem, except to say buy a new computer. I do have another way to access my email through a program from my Server called Magic Mail and I have no problem with it. Does Apple not monitor this site and see all the complaints on this subject?

Here's a question for all of you: for those of you having this issue, how many of you are using an external monitor?

My MBP16 is connected to a pair of LG monitors and the laptop itself is generally clamshelled shut. I have noticed that I don't seem to encounter the issue when I'm traveling and am using just the laptop's integrated monitor. Coincidence?

The "answer" in dtsimon's post on 9/29 was a lifesaver for us! (dtsimon also posted on 10/8.)

Very "senior" mom was recently complaining about her Gmail messages taking 2-3 minutes to open while using Apple Mail on her iMac. She called both Apple and Verizon to troubleshoot with her over the phone. In short, she ended up with a new monthly internet bill that was almost double what it should be and the problem persisted of course! After I found about this issue (a month or so after the fact, I'm not sure exactly how long), she had Verizon restore her internet to the original speed.

Yesterday, she showed me in person what she was talking about. I told her I would take a peek but might have to come back, because I was late for something else. But, of course, I got drawn in by the frustration of not being able to find a good solution.

Until I found dtsimon's post, that is. I gave it a try, threw caution to the wind, and what do you know, it worked. Well, it's only been two days so far, but we'll cross our fingers that the issue won't return anytime soon. (Actually, I'm a little worried, because I usually like to keep up with the Apple OS updates, but now I'm a little scared to install the next one when it becomes available. So, please fill me in if anything is known about whether this issue still exists with the next update after Monterey 12.6.)

To dtsimon: Thank you!

Whilst I'm glad it worked for you, sorry to say it did nothing for me. And nor does it answer the question as to why this whole situation arose!

I did suggest to Apple that they brought in some children from a local school to sort out the problem they have caused... oddly I never had a response.

In the meanwhile, Thunderbird/Mozilla still works very well and it looks like I shall be using that for some time to come.
