New Iphone se stuck in restore

Bought a new SE on Sunday. The agent started the restore from an Icloud backup.

Here is it Wednesday and phone still says it has 300MB more to go. After I fixed the problem with my Cellular service the message changed to 100mb then it went right back to saying 300MB.

I saw advice about pressing Vol down, Vol up, the Side button to see recovery status but all I see is the choice to power down or cancel.

Everything on my phone appears to work, all my 900+ songs and thousands of photos are there. My apps work (well I have not encountered one yet that does not work).

i am on ios 15.5 and all updated. Spent a long time on the phone with Apple yesterday and they could not really help. Ultimately they said to reset the phone and start over but I would like to avoid that if possible. It took me forever to log back into all my apps etc.

Is there some way to stop the restore in progress? Is my only choice re-restore? Will the new cloud backups be a mess because the phone thinks the restore is unfinished? Can I just leave it stuck in Restore in Progress?

Thanks.

Greetings kayzee55,

There is no harm in leaving the restore in progress for a couple days, especially if they are days you’re connected to Wi-Fi and power with Low Power Mode off.

If all your data appears to be on your iPhone, you can also go to Settings > your name > iCloud > iCloud Back Up and there may be an option there to stop the restore.

The process for force restarting your iPhone that you were given, should restart your iPhone without you having to choose anything. Quickly pressing and releasing volume up, then volume down, then holding the Side button until you see the Apple logo.

Thanks.
