Why is iPhone voice dictation adding additional Unicode characters to anything I dictate via voice on my iPhone?

I have the exact same issue as Everyone else get [obj] characters when d… - Apple Community but the apple support site is broken and wont let me reply or say I have that issue as well.

This issue is the one issue that my make me buy an android device, because its an accessibility issue that doesn't respect the blind.

This has been happening for what feels like YEARS and I just want the stupid Unicode stop object thing that gets added to my voice dictating efforts at the end of sentences after the period to stop being added to anything I dictate with voice as when it posts on Facebook, it looks automated and makes me look like a bot so nobody takes me seriously.

The Facebook app is the easiest way to reproduce this issue for me, as anything I dictate via voice in the app to post includes it.

This bug has preproduced on MYLTIPLE iPhone's, in fact its been a constant issue on every single one I have owne, not just my most current one.

iPhone XR, iOS 15

You have a bad understanding of my issue and your response is not helpful at all.

The iPhone is fully up to date and running the most recent iPhone OS. No more updates can be performed.

The device has been restarted multiple times, and that does not fix it, but if it did, I would still consider that a severe quality issue. This is not new to the most recent versions of IOS either, its been a long standing problem that also existed in iOS 14.

I don't know what you mean by "voice notes". If you mean "recorded audio" then your question makes no sense as I am only talking about the text output of voice dictation.

Hello, honestduane.

This does sound like it would be a bothersome behavior, so we're definitely here to see how we can help. As with all unexpected iPhone behavior, try taking the following steps which may help with this: restart your iPhone, make sure it is up to date, close the app being used with dictation, then reopen it and make sure all apps are updated.

That's generalized troubleshooting for the iPhone and this behavior, but we also suggest checking the following things:

    • Does this happen with ALL apps, including native Apple apps like in Safari or Notes? We understand it does happen in Facebook most, but it could be telling if it never occurs in other apps.
    • Does this happen when you record Voice Memos as well?
    • Have you experienced this on different networks, both Wi-Fi and cellular?
    • You mentioned this has followed you through multiple devices. Have you carried over a backup from one to the other? Has this ever occurred a iPhone that was set up as a new device?

Let us know if we can help with anything else at all or if this doesn't settle your issue. Thanks and have a fabulous day!

Thanks for getting back to us here in Communities, honestduane.

To help narrow things down, can you test to see if this occurs with any Apple apps? For example Notes or Reminders? Dictate text on iPhone - Apple Support

If this is specific to third party apps only, try these steps and if needed contact the Apple Developer: How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

If this does occur with Apple apps, contact Apple Accessibility support for further help: How to contact Apple for accessibility support - Apple Support

Cheers!

The site is not broken. Threads are automatically closed out if they are inactive for, as I recall, 30 days. There is a banner at the top of the thread you linked to that explains that.
