CooolAl,
As mentioned previously mentioned, spam filters are handled by the email service provider. In this case it would be Gmail. What you are describing is not a function the Mail app on your iPhone would perform. It's only retrieving the emails from Google's Gmail.
The Mail app only reaches out to Google for emails. Google's email servers tells the Mail app what to do with the emails. With iOS Mail app you can move items to the junk folder and review other options you can do with the iOS Mail app: Organize email in mailboxes on iPhone - Apple Support
"Move an email to junk
To move an email to the Junk folder, open it, tap , then tap Move to Junk"
You can also block the senders email: Block phone numbers, contacts, and emails on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
You will want to work with Google's Gmail Help to find out what settings you need for the iPhone Mail app to allow the filtering you want to do.
Have a great day!

Hi CooolA,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities. Spam filtering is done at the server level, so even on your iPhone, this is a function of Gmail. You may need to reach out to their support for further help, but we did find this helpful resource on the Gmail site: Block or unsubscribe from emails - iPhone & iPad - Gmail Help
We hope this helps.
Cheers!
CooolAl,
What you are describing is not a function the Mail app on your iPhone would perform. It's only retrieving the emails from Google's Gmail. And it makes perfect sense it works properly on their website.
The Mail app only reaches out to Google for emails. Google's email servers tells the Mail app what to do with the emails.
You will want to work with Google's Gmail Help to find out what settings you need for the iPhone Mail app to allow the filtering you want to do.

This is not correct. If I open my email on Gmail I dont see the spam, only when I look at my inbox in iphone I see spam. Your solution is a waste of time and not a solution.
