What does it take exactly to have two different external monitors, not mirrored

I have two Monitors and want to extend the display to the two monitors ( with different displays) . When I connect them using an adaptor I have my macbook pro screen + the two monitors but the display on the two monitors are the same.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.3

what model-year MacBook Pro 13-in? Monterrey runs on MacBook Pro 2015 and later.
