My mom doesn’t get notified when a voicemail comes, only a missed call notification

Hello and I hope you’re having a good day wherever you are, I here have a question regarding voicemails on my mother’s iPhone X. She has allows had trouble trying to get her voicemails to alert as she receives them. And ever since my mom has gotten her iPhone X (it was preowned by a seller on eBay) to replace her iPhone 6S, she has never been able to know when she gets a notification. If it helps, I’m pretty sure she’s using the same SIM card. I’ve set up a sound effect to go off that’s different from the rest of the ringtones for it, and nothing, still. Is there a way that she can get notifications when someone leaves a voicemail?

A1. Contact the Carrier: What is occurring if normal. Voicemail is a service provided by your Cellular provider. So, contact them, asking why this is occurring.

A2. Don't Use eBay for Hardware: The next time you gat an iPhone --get one directly from Apple to avoid issues like this. Notifications are everyday items. Out-of-the-box is the way to go about getting a new device. Plenty of eBay scams are reported on these forums, and yours is only one of them.

Q1: Okay, I told her that and she will contact them later today. Thank you for your help!

Q2: I know, and I kept telling her and my step-dad that. I kept saying buy from Apple Refurbished, at least, but they kept tuning that out. My step-dad wanted to save money, so he bought an “open box” model on eBay. He buys from eBay all the time and thinks he knows everything, but he never buys hardware. I checked the “Battery Health” settings and it had 76% or 80% used, and this is way. Thank you for proving my point!
