Anyone else experiencing the same problem trying to import photos to MacOS Mojave (10.14.16) form iOS 16? On plugging in my iPhone, I was asked to update iTunes (done) and restarted iTunes, but I get an error message "The operation couldn't be completed. (com.apple.ImageCaptureCore error -9956.)" and no images can be imported.
This will be problematic if I can't offload photos into my Mac!
I have a MacPro running Mojave 10.14.6 and an iPhone 13Pro that I upgraded to IOS16 yesterday.
I took some photos today and got this error when I tried to import them into Photos, like I have always done.
I went into Settings/Photos, and made sure it was set to "Automatic" for transfer to MAC or PC.
Then I went into Settings/Camera/ and chose "Most Compatible" in the Camera Capture Settings.-
but then the error said it could not import the JPG files ...
This is troubling if I cannot import photos!
But why would the Mac running Mojave be able to access these iOS16-formatted photos any better, just because they are now local… if it’s a file-type related problem to begin with?
An option for anyone using an older mac is to put the photos and videos in Files app then zip them, then air drop the zip files to your mac. That way they won't be forcefully converted.

Then why would you comment to an issue we are having downloading photos from iPhones running IOS16 to our desktops running OSX Mojave? If you have no desktop you have no desktop issues, do you?

Talked to someone at Apple:
Confirmed it’s a known problem and it’s been fixed in 16.1. The fix has been confirmed by developers in the 16.1 seed builds.

That's great news! It probably only happened because I finally bit the bullet and AirDropped 11 months of photos from my newly iOS16'd phone to Mojave. <wink>
I've just downloaded 16.13 BETA....I can confirm It's fixed in this update! :)
I tried using OSX 10.12 Sierra, this situation is completely same as Mojave.The photo app said 9956error.
When is 16.1 being released?
I m forced to stay in Mojave. Got so frustrated. Debating if I should just upgrade my iOS on Mac.. and say bye to photoshop CS6.
