How to fix overexposure issues on iPhone 14 Pro Max Photos?

I purchased my IPhone 14 Pro Max today and it has an annoying over exposure that it does to all my photos. It look very different from what I'm seeing on the screen when I'm taking the photo. How do I fix this to get this automatic over exposure turned off?

hello I have found a solution…

it’s not the camera it’s the display…

go to SETTING —-> Photos and turn off view full HDR…

it’s gonna fix the Over sharpening and exposure.

i hope it helps 😊

So we are all agree that this is a huge problem!

Different comments pointing out same issues when we talk about photos:

  • Horrible HDR post processing
  • Insane over exposure
  • Extreme sharpening
  • Super grainy and desaturated
  • Awful contrast and lighting

On my side I think that buying a 1TB iPhone and shooting 48MP RAW isn't the solution nor turning off Full HDR View, I mean this should work flawless just out of the box.

I'm looking forward to any iOS updates (literally checking more than ten times a day) because this should be fixed.

Please raise your hand if you are having this same issue, we need a solution.

Me too! Photos are overexposed, with agressive postprocessing and with no variant to swith HDR off! Apple removed Smart HDR option in Camera Settings (I really want to return this checkbox back!).

Additionaly I have an issue with sharpness. My photos on iPhone 14 Pro Max are worse than photos on my old iPhone 11 Pro max! I've tested in the same conditions and scenes. When there are some text on the corner of frame, it is visible to the naked eye that text are blurry and there is no way to make it more sharp :(

So I see no progress in front camera and HDR, only regress. 11 Pro Max camera and processing algorithm is better! As my father says: "Best is the enemy of the good" :(

Please consider photo comparison: iPhone 11 pro max vs iPhone 14 pro max. 100% crop.

I went into the store after not feeling that a new phone would help and the lack of understanding of the person on the phone for the issue. The store could not help at all other than to confirm that is just how the phone works. The lighting in the store is so bright that it was not as obvious. I was told that this is how the camera works because it takes more realistic photos. This is not a camera for taking close-up pictures of people. I too regret getting rid of my 11 Pro Max for this one.

i have the 14 pro and the camera is TERRIBLE! especially the front one.

i use snapchat to take selfies, its awful but im used to it. still strange because the colors are wrong, they’re always too cold. i still have the 11 pro and the camera is so much better

apple doesn’t do anything about it, so my tips are: take your photos in snapchat or lightroom

you can swipe the button left too! (on normal camera) it works, but the quality its not that good, although i think its perfect

this method kinda reminds me of photos taken with old iphones
