How to fix overexposure issues on iPhone 14 Pro Max Photos?

I purchased my IPhone 14 Pro Max today and it has an annoying over exposure that it does to all my photos. It look very different from what I'm seeing on the screen when I'm taking the photo. How do I fix this to get this automatic over exposure turned off?

If you are experiencing over or under exposure in either the Photo Mode or Portrait Mode, check your exposure compensation (EC) setting, icon below. There is a separate EC for photo mode and portrait mode. If you intentionally or accidentally set this off of zero, the offset will stay until you physically reset it to zero. Any offset will show up in the upper left of your screen with the mini histogram. Click on the histogram to open EXC and reset.

No guarantees, but this may solve your problem.

I bought an Iphone 14 on Oct. 2023. The camera is not good at all. Pictures are overexposed, the color is way too intense, and some details when photographing up close are too exaggerated. Don't bother taking nature shots especially at sunset it will look like psychedelic sky. Have to constantly edit my photos and even then they don't look good. APPLE FIX THIS. these phone are too expensive to have such a poor camera. I have resorted to using my old SE5 second gen for my camera and transferring my pics to my computer to edit. Very disappointing can't recommend buying this iphone.

It's 2024, this problem began in 2022. Must everything become worse than it was? Is there no way to turn this overprocessing off? I don't have room for raw. Why isn't it being improved/fixed? Why must I deal with terrible pictures on my phone that are otherwise incredible on my wife's iPhone 13 pro. I don't want to have to buy a DSLR camera and carry that around everywhere I go. Please stop editing my photos for me. I can do a better job of it.

I made a comment in here about the awful photos as well, and shocking to see how many others there are with same complaint. I have the 14 Plus, and had the 11. So rather than being miserable and complaining, I decided to purchase another 11 from Amazon.com; the Premium Renewed, as this obviously is a refurbished phone, but when buying an older phone, the "Premium Renewed" option gives you a 365 day return/exchange policy. I guess I never would have thought to "downgrade", but in this instance, I am. I am not familiar with the 12 or 13, but I DO know I LOVED the camera on the 11.

I been having this same problem since after iPhone X. It all started with the 11. I don’t even use my camera now because of it. I use Snapchat then upload to my phone. But even sometimes snap does it as well. But not every single time like iPhones camera. I wonder if the 15 does this? Does anyone know? Because I have the 13 and I’m still having this problem. So I wanted to upgrade to the 15 in hopes it wouldn’t be a problem but I’m not gonna pay my phone off for more garbage.

I just went and looked at that and actually I had already turned that off, which is a shame to not be able to have that on. But even though it’s off my face looks like a tomato and all blotchy. It’s absolutely horrible. iPhones cost a ton of money and the main reason I get one is for the camera, but this camera being as expensive as it is and was supposed to be so great is worse The old Canon zoom lens cameras from 20 years ago. My son’s android phone takes pictures that are 1000 times better and it’s very upsetting. Apple should do some recall or something because a lot of people get these phones basically for the awesome pictures it’s supposed to take otherwise why not just get an old phone. can somebody please give me some sort of answer and concrete? What will be done or what will actually fix this because it’s ridiculously frustrating.
