Hi, I'm using the MacBook Air m2 and just bought a usb hub. Once I connected the hub, it was able to receive power and charge devices but was not recognised by the Mac. Any usb I plug into the hub is unable to be recognised by the MacBook. Is there any way to fix this as I do not want to buy another hub but need to be able to access the usb.

Thanks for your post to Apple Support Communities. If you're having an issue with a USB accessory, like the hub you mentioned, one way to rule out if the issue is with the accessory or your MacBook Air is to test it with another computer.
If the USB hub doesn't work when connected to another Mac, then you'll know the issue is the USB hub. If it does work, reply back here and we can work through steps to figure out why your MacBook Air isn't working with the USB hub.

Hi, thank you for your reply. I’ve tried the hub on 2 other devices and it worked both times and I also used a cable to connect my phone to the MacBook and the port worked as well. Now I’m really confused as to why it’s not working since both the hub and ports seem to be fine apart from when I connect the hub to the port.

Thank you for this information. There may be some incompatibility in the USB data portions of the hub that prevent communication with your MacBook Air. It appears that both devices are working independently from each other. We would like to suggest taking the MacBook Air and the hub to an Apple Store or an authorized service provider and test the computer with another hub and the hub with another Mac. This may help isolate the issue further.
You could also reach out to the manufacturer of the hub for their suggestion. They may be aware of some issue with the hub.
