Blurry pics on iPhone 14 Pro Max (iOS 16.0.2)

I just got the new phone few days ago (for the better cameras compared to 13 Pro Max), and surprisingly the pics quality is blurry!

If I use the main camera when choosing 'vivid' mode, after the pic is taken , it takes 3-4 more seconds to do the post-processing! You can see the pic changing contrast, light etc in 2-3 times during that time interval of 3-4 seconds. The result at the end is not as good as I had with 13 Pro Max - which did the processing WHILE taking the pics and not after...

If I chose the 'standard' mode, the pics are better than in vivid mode, but still if you zoom just a little the details get lost! If you dont zoom, some areas of the pic seem clear and others blurry!

I did everything I could do from my side, cleaned the lens, updated to 16.0.2 as I mention in the title and I dont know what else to do :/

Any help on this please?

Having the same issue, called Apple support. They’re apparently aware of the issue and the software team is notified and “working on the issue”. They also said they’re unable to tell me how long the “fix” software release will be, could be 1 months. Could be 6 months…

also offered me a phone swap but my phone passed all hardware issues so swapping the phone won’t really solve the issue.

I was desperate and really believed that this time would fix it :) it was right when I got the phone and no other reports or posts or anything was on the web related to the issue- only praise and glory from youtubers and bloggers. I thought whoever had the dame issue fixed it like this and i was the only one still having it. So I gave it a try 🤷‍♂️

This is such a good article and well articulated. Thank you, my wish is for Apple to understand this frustration and allow us to control HDR. I agree that is the culprit making our photos look artificial and overly saturated. I am so disappointed with this phone and that's such a hard pill to swallow after paying over 1k for it. I have changed settings and although the photos are ok, I shouldn't be expected to just have "ok" looking photos! I really hope they come up with some software that allows us to control our images.

i was waiting for a new iphone, but the hardware looks boring, and when you think that you are buying the best of the best, the camera is terrible, the .5 pictures looks like if you were using fishball eye lenses, why apple is not fixing this issue?

the other thing is the charger, i asked for a charger they gave me one for free but it was used, i want to present a complain but there is nobody responsable.

isn't it beyond frustrating?! I'll call again and make another report/grievance. It's been very hard to accept this mess but I am unwilling to loose more money to return this device and get an older model. (my cellular provider said I can get $515 as trade in ... half of what I paid!)

I really am holding out hope that they release an update so we can control some of these settings in the camera. Some with 13ProMax have complained of similar problems, too. So, it appears the automatic HDR setting is the culprit for many of our complaints.

Buyers remorse doesn't even adequately explain how I feel 😭

Exactly!! I was so desperate I was going to try to get a 12 and I would have to pay in addition to what I owe for the 14pro. And I refuse to do that. So I’m stuck. I feel sick that I upgraded and even worse that there’s no solution in sight at this time. It’s terrible.

here’s an example of what it does.

These were taken inside (where the camera seems the worst with processing), about 2 PM. NOT dark or even low light. Natural light coming in, near a window. Both me and the dog were still. Although you may not believe that based on the photos!!! All still. The camera was still. The preview showed a clear picture. Then I opened the camera roll. Literally. Going. Crazy.

if you zoom in even the smallest amount on the face you can clearly see how awful it looks!!!

I asked someone with me and sent it to a friend with a 14 and both confirmed the terrible quality!! I’m not sure why when posting it here it doesn’t translate? but trust me when I say the pictures are not good. And as I said I gave countless examples to apple and they 100% confirmed the poor quality, etc. thank you for looking though! I wish you could see the picture as I’m looking at it right now lol

Guys did anyone face any issue with the macro lens..

whenever i try to take a macro photo the details and quality and overall zoom and all are very unsatisfactory, but as soon as i switch to macro video mode i can see a 3 times improvement in everything.. there are so much details in video mode than in photo mode when clicking macro.

anyone else facing this issue ?
