One of the main reasons why your iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max is getting hot is because of the use of power-hungry apps. Certain apps use more resources than others, and this can cause the device to heat up. Apps that are known to be power-hungry include games, video streaming apps, and GPS navigation apps.
To Overcome this problem you can do the following
~ Close Power Hungry Apps
~ Update Your Phone to Latest Software
~ Disable Background refresh
~ Use an external fan or cooling device
~ Reduce screen brightness
~ Disable location services
I just got my new iPhone 14 Pro Max last week. Yesterday I was doing the first back up, I have no photos on phone and “always on” was turned off. The phone overheated constantly (starting about min into backup) Phone gave me warnings the charging will resume with it cools down. This has been reported long ago with no resolution from Apple. I even called Apple, they didn’t seem to know many experience this or have been directed not to discuss. I’ve read it MAY help some by charging with a wireless charger, Apple can buy me one then, I didn’t buy an expensive phone only to learn I’m not the only one with phone overheating. I don’t even have a case for it yet, wonder how bad it will get when case covers it. A small back up took 7 hours and 54 minutes, not sure if related. We have fast WiFi too. I’ll give it another week, if no better, returning phone.
I just received my new 14 pro max tonight. It’s been on the charger for less than 2 hours and the phone is hot. It’s not warm, it’s hot. My phone is still downloading all my apps so I’m hoping this will go away once the phone is updated. If not…. Maybe I made the wrong upgrade.
Same as my Iphone 14 pro max gets overheat and suddenly just come back temporarily cool and then after few days it’s the same issue and freezing sometimes. I went to the customer support service and they examined /updating the IOS after that just observe for another months they told me to come back if another issue but same thing happened…I have to bring it back again in few days to the apple store😞
When I bought the Iphone 14PM after 2 days it’s started to overheat and freeze up messages, I took back to the vodafone Charlestown and they said it’s quite normal to overheat and freeze sometimes also it’s easy to low bat /dead battery 🪫 after one day 🤔😖😣☹️ so I wait for few weeks to return to the store and still same issue so, they advised me to go to apple store/genius bar. Of course they updated my IOS and they fix some issues so I went home after few days its the same again overheating and the messages freezing up and have to turn off most of the time. SO I NEED TO GO BACK TO THE APPLE STORE AND TELL THE SAME ISSUES MEANS IT HAS NEVER BEEN FIXED…
Unless it warns you it is shutting down due to temperature, it is not overheating.

My iPhone 14PM just started to warm up both the back and front glass just by watching small video clips on Facebook. Never did this until yesterday.
I just got the iPhone 14 pro and it’s getting unusually hot to the point where I have to put the phone down because of the heat
It’s not normal. I just upgraded today from an XR and that phone never overheated like this in the 4 years I’ve had it. I’m taking this new one back to the store tomorrow.
How do we get intouch apple care?
I received my replacement 14 Pro, transferred my info over from my burning got 14 Pro, and everything went cool! The second 14 Pro has never heated up to the extent of the first one.
I did! They had me a new shipped to me and I received it the next day! Works perfectly!
Yes, Verizon sent me a new phone
I don’t know why you think that; the more powerful the CPU, the more it is going to heat when used, as all the apps you cite other than Audible make heavy use of the CPU and GPU.
If the iPhone gets hot enough to be a danger to itself or something else it will shut itself down.

This is my second 14 pro max in the last 6 months. It is getting hot as well so this model just gets hot. In the top half especially.
