My iPhone 14 Pro Max won't turn on

I just had the same issue and google out the solution from my computer. Thanks for the help from the community. I am very lucky to have a computer near by, but not everyone has such luck. 6 months passed after the original posting, I hope Apple can fix this in timely fashion. Out of curiosity, what is the root cause of this?

This happened to me today and was very frustrating. The first Monday of the time change and no alarm. I tried 3 different cords think it was dead, even though I had it on a charger during the night. After finding this help I tried several times to hit the volume up and down and hold the button down for a minute and it wouldn't work. 2 hours later I tried again and it turned on with a full 100% battery. Apple, please fix this issue!!

I have 16.4 updated and this still happened to me this morning, so I don’t think they fixed the issue in the latest update. Luckily my iPad works and I was able to come on here to learn how to fix it.

Last night it happened to me as well and the day before my camera was glitching really disappointed as this phone is new. I saw the charge starting and my phone was at 70% already. If my spouse had not woken up randomly I would’ve never woken up for work.

Trying to download the new IOS 16.4.1 now. I have doubts that will fix it.

I just purchased the iPhone 14 max pro 2 days ago and luckily woke up during the night to find my phone wouldn't even turn on. This is very frustrating having to research what is wrong with my phone hoping I can resolve it before my day began. Thankfully there had not been any emergency or calls coming in during the night and even if they did I don't know about it now.

Always relied on my phone as an alarm and now I am worried I have made a mistake in buying a new phone (cause I know this most likely will happen again). I have seen that many have experienced this issue and am left to question whether Apple has or is even doing anything about this issue.

I also experienced this same thing. I charged my iPhone 14 Pro Max overnight, and suddenly when the alarm goes on, the screen completely black. I can turn the alarm off by press anything, but that’s it.

The phone is dead. Black screen. I tried to charge it again, nothing happened but I can feel the vibration when you plug in the charger which means the phone is not ran out of battery. I follow the link in the video, do that three steps and repeat it for half an hour. That’s the only thing I can do, better than drive to apple store and wait till 10 AM to open. And finally it works. And my battery was full.

So what’s wrong with this iPhone? I got this iPhone 14 Pro Max on the first batch in Australia with its iOS is up date (iOS 16.4.1).

This is disappointing. I never had this experience with my iPhone X before.

Same thing Went to bed, woke up to a completely unresponsive iPhone 14 pro max I tried different charging cords, and tried hard restarting holding volume power, the combo of volume up, then down and power button still nothing, I’m gonna keep trying I have appointment with Apple in the morning

I just got my 14 pro max in January and this has happened to me 3 times already and always the day after an update. This is becoming a huge issue for me. I never had this problem when I had my Android phones.

I assumed it was a faulty power cord and my phone had died over night. Fast forward to 5:30am, I am frantically swapping cords and power outlets trying to get it to charge (assuming it was dead)

Now fully awake and frustrated I found this thread and fixed the problem within 60 seconds. Thank you!

The trick worked for me too. It took a few times, but it worked. So sad because I just got this iphone 14 pro max in January 2023 brand new and this is the third time this has happened after an ios update. Apple really needs to make this a standard warning.

Lifesaver. Literally the 14 Pro Max has been so glitchy since I first pre-ordered it. Even to this day, Facetime, keyboard, and other things still giving issues. Shame on apple for not recalling this phone. My phone just turned off randomly and charging it for an hour and trying the reset buttons didn't work. Frustrating because it's 10PM and I don't have my lifeline. Anyways, whatever steps you mentioned worked for me. Appreciate this. Thank you.

I had the same issue for the first time since I got my iPhone 14 Pro in 2022, October. I left my phone overnight to charge, woke up in the morning my phone was dead.

I followed the steps, my phone was reactivated.

I just hope Apple fixes the issue

I don't know if is rare, it happened to my wife's phone last week and mine today. Never had a problem until the last software update.

Same thing and nothing is working. Awesome thing is, it's my birthday and now I have no way to reach anyone about the days plans, etc.
