Restore just one application from Time Machine

Hi there,

I recently updated an application but it's frequently crashing and I'm looking to downgrade. If I restore an older version from Time Machine, will that cause issues if there are other pieces scattered around my system?

Should I experiment? That is, try the restore, and if there are issues, revert the restore by restoring to the latest version (via Time Machine or by reinstalling). Or would this muck things up even more?

The application in question is PDF Expert.

Thank you community.

P.S., I'm aware of the below thread that addresses this question, but the advice is fairly dated, so I thought I'd check again

Confirm with the vendor that the version of PDF Expert that you installed was acceptible for Catalina, and not requiring Big Sur or Monterey. If true, confirm that there is not a recent point update on their site that may resolve your current issues with the application. Test different PDFs to determine if just one PDF is causing issues.

You may or may not encounter issues with restoring just the older version of the application itself. Only the vendor knows what dependencies exist with the full installation between versions.
