Updated this morning (iPhone 14 pro), experiencing the same. My phone can also sit on the charger for an hour and will be the same battery life as before. If I restart my phone, it’ll update to the correct battery life.

Agreed, I did a full restore of my iPhone 13 mini. Restored my phone from the ICloud backup as per the instructions.

As soon as I enabled the contacts sync with ICloud the battery drain resumed. This didn’t solve the problem.

It’s also not a solution for users to restore their phones and reinstalling iOS every time you install a systems update. This really is a huge bungle by Apple. This also puts an increased wear on the phone battery that Apple obviously doesn’t want to take responsible for and consequently they don’t wish to acknowledge the issue in the first place.

Battery drain continued via Contacts app (high data consumption) after I enabled the FaceTime, but now after disabling it seems back to normal. To find the problematic app it was helpful to (temporarily) disable the WiFi and reset the Mobile Data usage calculators under Settings > Cellular or Settings > Mobile Data. High amount of Contacts data (transfer) usage is not normal. There must be something wrong on Contacts data sync or related services somehere - changed after 15.7.1.

Turning off iCloud sync and contacts sync the standby time returns to something resembling normal. However using safari or facebook apps even over WiFi drains about 20% battery per hour. This isn’t okay by any standards when Apple advertises upto 15 hours of battery life for the iPhone 12 mini.

There are obviously some fundamental problems in iOS 16 that Apple has failed to identify.

I’ve been experiencing the battery drain since updating to 6.1. I’ve chatted with Apple and spoke to support, but their only recommendation was to wipe the phone and reinstall. I really didn’t want to do that, because it takes a long time and I didn’t think it would work. I finally gave in and wiped the phone and the upshot: no change. Still high battery drain. Apple has a serious bug somewhere, but they don’t appear to know what it is yet. I’ve been warning all family members to avoid this update at all costs.

Mines been mostly good for the last week. I too tried everything and in the end I think it was the couple of days after the update that did it. I thought there is some unadvertised indexing or synchronizing that is burning the battery the first few days after the update. However, every once in a while I see a heavy drop and heat, and which when I do, I restart the phone and that seems to do the trick. They need to sort this out, and I’m sure they will. Eventually. If by then I see anything less then 100% battery health, they will be replacing my phone.

Two weeks now of crazy battery drain. Spoke to Apple Support twice and their only advice was to wipe the phone and reinstall from backup, which did nothing but waste several hours. For me it’s the Home & Lock Screen that is using 50-60% of my battery, all while off screen. The phone gets *hot* while just doing normal tasks and the only solution is to turn on low power mode. This has been the most disappointing iPhone update in years and I really hope Apple is able to figure it out.

I'm not sure, but in case you are using astrology lockscreen in normal focus or in other focus consider changing it to default cause it's drain a massive battery. to be safe you can delete any other wallpaper. Never leave location, bluetooth always on, disable it from setting. Some user suggested turning off icloud for contact. I did turn it off for apple native app like contacts, calendar, reminder, etc.

Also some information in case others don't know never charge <20% and past 90% to extend battery life. Do not believe over charging technology in smartphone. Do not use your phone while charging unless for texting and minor activity to see information in app (instagram, youtube is a no, it's heat the phone). I don't get crazy battery drain but my phone did drain faster and need to charge twice a day even if i don't use it, often times get hot. This last for a week. Doing a factory reset with itunes at first not helping, i wait few days and it's gone (including turning off icloud for contacts and other apple apps). It's normal now, just my psychology playing me cause my older phone is realme with 4300mah and the battery capacity is insane. I could play game for hours, only need to charge it once a day. I can't do that in iphone 14 pro but the experience iphone is offer is outgrow the android. I love it and won't go back. Unless android bested iphone.

I’ve turned off all Lock Screen widgets, turned off notifications, turned off background processes, wiped the phone and reloaded from backup, and nothing has worked. I’m glad that some people have been able to fix this, but I think the problem is much deeper than just disabling useful features of the phone. I still think there is a bug related to the Lock & Home Screen.
