I updated to 16.1 on Monday and today my Face ID is no longer working, rebooted, cleared Face ID and now I cannot register a Face ID. I am able to place my face in the square but it tells me to place iPhone lower or higher. I tried adjusting the iPhone to no avail.

After trouble shooting my phone remotely with apple support, and they performing a remote diagnostic scan that said my phone was in perfect health, they set up an appointment at the Apple Store for me.
The Genius at the Apple Store did an advance diagnostic scan that did show that my TrueDepth camera had an issue. Unfortunately it was an out of pocket repair of $279 since my 13PM was out of warranty and I did not have AppleCare. Repair took 1 hour 20 mins. I was told by their genius that *IF* Apple announces a service program for TrueDepth cameras on the iPhone 13s, then my paid repair would be eligible for reimbursement.
Was your phone still under warranty or did they replace still because of this issue? I have a 13 pro max but I’ve had it for about a year and three months.
Same for me, it was more than a year...
Turns out I had a AT&T Warranty, so I used that rather than the AppleCare+ that I did not have.

I have 13 pro and faceid stop working after update to 16.1.1. It works once in a day then stop working again. When I try to reset faceid, it keep saying face id not available.

Still doesn’t work on 16.1.2. Also there is no release note about it.
No… is not working… it only works 10% of the time is you are lucky….
I have to type my password every 5 minutes whenever I try to do anything. Erg

Now if you had some reading comprehension, my literal first sentence explained that I initially troubleshot it with Apple Support.

Now I just have to hope Apple does the right thing and indeed does an extended warranty program for this problem.
