This iPhone is open in another window

Wondering if you tried what worked for ogooz, in his reply above:

"On Ventura, the Sync interface that I used to access via iTunes in the previous OSs is now available by selecting the iPhone in the left pane of any Finder window".

I saw my iPhone in the Finder list. I was able to sync that way. Thanks for your guidance.

I didn't go through iTunes. I opened Finder, and my phone was listed under Locations. When I clicked that, a backup window appeared, and I could back it up as usual. Hope this works for you.

Try signing out of iTunes account and then log back in and re-authorize computer. Worked for me.

Hi, I had the same problem with my iPhone 13 Pro Max, but I think I fixed it. I realized that I had removed the iTunes app off of my phone. After I reinstalled it and did a soft reset on the phone and restarted iTunes on my "up to date Macbook pro", everything worked perfectly. Hoping that this has fixed the issue for good.

Resetting the cache in Music seems to have worked for me. I can manually manage things again.

That message does seem puzzling.

Apple support's article:

Sync music between your Mac and iPhone or iPad – Apple Support

says:

"If you subscribe to Apple Music, your music is transferred automatically to all your devices and no syncing is required."

If you don't subscribe ... maybe the article has some tips that will help.

Yes, the iPhone 14appears in Finder window panels and in iTunes. The iPhone 13 appears in neither. The Apple technician confirmed that all software was up to date, and he could not pull up the iPhone 13 either on my machine or his.

The "This iPhone is open in another window" problem is endemic to both iPhones, with no known way of resolving it.

As I have said, this is entirely Apple's problem, and they need to fix it pronto

I am not exactly sure what I did but I can now update and back up my iPone via the Music app on my iMac. I think it was from making sure both my devices are signed into iTunes.....sorry for being so vague.

Seems the more feedback Apple receives on an issue, the more likely we are to see it addressed in an update.

(Am guessing they sometimes need more info. too ...Eg: with user-experience on the different iPhone models.)

Hey Apple Sheep! A followup to my original issue: syncing home movies (MP4s) to my iPhone from my MBP. When trying to upload movies, the finished files end up in Music instead of TV. I called up Apple support and after the initial tech couldn't understand the problem, I was escalated to a senior tech. We started a Screen Share session. As I was tinkering, waiting for the tech to really start troubleshooting, I synced my iPhone during the call. Mid-way, we got disconnected. It occurred to me to try the OFFICIAL method and import my files as opposed to Drag-and-drop. Once imported, I dragged a trial file to the iPhone. Surprise! Problem solved. Don't know what they did in Ventura, but they royally @#$% up. Still don't know why they screw with simple/core functions...and don't even notated this in the release. Sigh. The drag/drop function works with music, NO PROBLEM. They just had to screw with TV, regarding "home-brew" MP4s. As for the "...in another window" issue, the tech DID say close open apps. Hope this helps anyone in this predicament.
