Buzzing on Zoom Meeting while sharing screen

Earlier thread: Buzzing on Zoom Meeting while sharing scr… - Apple Community

Well, my iPad Pro started this buzzing sound when used in Zoom with a cable connection, once I upgraded to ipados 16. M1 MacBook running Monterey and M1 iPad Pro. I had to revert to 15.7 to get rid of the problem. This seems to be an Apple problem that Apple won't address.

This workaround is kludgey, but it works: Buzzing on Zoom Meeting while sharing scr… - Apple Community . I guess I shouldn't be surprised that nobody's fixed this bug for over a year.

Note that the text in the workaround is right where it says "New movie recording" and the screenshot that says "New screen recording" is wrong. A summary of the technique is:

  1. Open QuickTime Player on the Mac.
  2. With the QuickTime File menu, choose New movie recording (not "new screen recording" like it shows in the screenshot).
  3. Using the pulldown to the right of the record button, scroll down to where it says Screen. Under that, it should show your ipad that's connected by a cable. Select that.
  4. Now you can share the QuickTime Player screen using Zoom like you share any other window, either by sharing that window or by sharing the Mac screen that has that window in it.

Good morning guys.

The issue is only on ipad with usb C port.

It is not linked to M1/M2...

Issue also present on Ipad Air 4th.

Issue is not present on ipad with lightning port.

One year ago issue was already present.... Not new

The issue was corrected by IpadOS 15.2 and above.

Unfortunately, Apple releases the new update IpadOS 16.1 and copied / pasted the same issue of the first release of IpadOS 15.0 and below.

Apple shall learn from the past and integrate the correction done on 15.2 on a new release of 16.1

Hoping it will be very soon

Rgds

I just upgraded my ipad to 16.3 and my Mac to Ventura 13.2, both the latest as of today, and it works fine. (I haven't zoomed with anyone yet, but when it was broken, the problem happened even when I just opened a zoom room to myself and shared the ipad, so I assume it's still fixed.) This fix has been a game changer for my math tutoring business.

Good morning.

I just said issue is not only on ipad with M1/M2.

I have one ipad air 4th (with Apple bionic A14) which also has the issue.

The common point for issue is the port usb C.

For ipad Pro 1st gen, keep it you are lucky.

I don't know if your port usb C is the same version

I know that port usb C is upgraded from ipad air 4th and ipad air 5th for example.

I also know that issue did not exist with ipadOS from 15.2 to 15.7 on ipad using usb C.

So one day (till last month), it was working well.

Thanks jondeyer, your workaround works well and I have been using it for a while. However, I would also like to be able to share the sound from the iPad (I am using Keynote files with video clips) and I can't find a way to get that to work with the Quicktime workaround. It worked fine before the update. I also tried JML54's trick of downgrading the iPad to 15.7, but it would not work for me. The iPad insisted on my installing 16.1 before I could restore from backup or treat as a new iPad. I really hope that Apple fixes this soon. I have been in conversations with Zoom support, but they say that Apple must be aware from these forums, but I don't know if they actually look at them. I hope they do and fix it soon with an update. Apple support would not help as they said it was only affecting a third party app (Zoom). This is very frustrating.
