Buzzing on Zoom Meeting while sharing screen

Earlier thread: Buzzing on Zoom Meeting while sharing scr… - Apple Community

Well, my iPad Pro started this buzzing sound when used in Zoom with a cable connection, once I upgraded to ipados 16. M1 MacBook running Monterey and M1 iPad Pro. I had to revert to 15.7 to get rid of the problem. This seems to be an Apple problem that Apple won't address.

This workaround is kludgey, but it works: Buzzing on Zoom Meeting while sharing scr… - Apple Community . I guess I shouldn't be surprised that nobody's fixed this bug for over a year.

Note that the text in the workaround is right where it says "New movie recording" and the screenshot that says "New screen recording" is wrong. A summary of the technique is:

  1. Open QuickTime Player on the Mac.
  2. With the QuickTime File menu, choose New movie recording (not "new screen recording" like it shows in the screenshot).
  3. Using the pulldown to the right of the record button, scroll down to where it says Screen. Under that, it should show your ipad that's connected by a cable. Select that.
  4. Now you can share the QuickTime Player screen using Zoom like you share any other window, either by sharing that window or by sharing the Mac screen that has that window in it.
