Problems macOs Ventura and Photos App.

After downloading macOs Ventura to my iMac. Editing photos in the Photos app is having problems. I use a Nikon Z7, i shoot in raw. Photos are nice and clear from the camera card. When i edited thru Photos App, photos are blurry and not focused. Had no problems with Monterey. Called Apple support, no help.

Edited Nikon D850 RAW photos still blurry in Apple Photos on brand new Mac M2 Mini fully up to date with Ventura 13.2.1.

This is still happening - I just got a new M2 Mac mini last week. Syned my Photos library to it - I have "Download Originals to this Mac" enabled. Storage is all internal using the SSD that came in the Mini. So this is brand new and vanilla - I took some pictures today. Imported them from an XQD card directly into Photos. I am shooting the highest quality RAW the D850 will shoot ("NEF (RAW)" and Image size "RAW Large") with "C" firmware version 1.20.

Here is a crop of what the image looks like in thumbnail or zoomed in view after I edited it - it is grainy and missing detail:

However- If I click the "Edit" button in Photos, it finally shows up as it should:

There are multiple issues asw editing/using RAW photos in Ventura's version of Photos. Fuzziness of image as noted is one. Another is that any edits followed by a zoom action will tend to lock the zoom scale to one scale regardless of where the adjustment setting slider is set. Finally, in export the whole app tends to bind up, becoming non-responsive and displaying the spinning beach ball, forcing a quit.

To add to this problem, if I click on a photo to edit it it immediately sharpens up in the editing window and stays sharp until I look at another photo. It's a huge problem when trying to figure out if a photo is any good or not, because when you look go forward and back between your photos they are not clear, to check if they are clear you need to go to edit and then they clarify.

I can also confirm that this happens in my iCloud photo library (which is set up. optimize photo storage) but it also happens when I use a local library - with all images store on my computer.

I can also confirm that if I try to put those photos into a slideshow that the photos remain blurry - the only solution was to export all the photos as JPEG and then reimport them and add them to a slideshow.

Is the camera battery fully charged or the camera connected to a power supply? Have you tried to use a card reader?

After the upgrade to Ventura my Macs are having problems to recognise devices without an own power supply.

Ventura should be able to read the RAW files from the Nikon Z7, if the camera is in the correct mode for downloading (Digital camera RAW formats supported by iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura - Apple Support). Can Image Capture see the camera for downloading?

I’ve had a similar blurry image problem for the last 7 months. Using Photos with iCloud from an iPhone 14 Pro and ProMax as well as a Sony a7c and an Olympus OM-1 II. So its not the devices, its the software. Seems to me this happened a a couple years ago as well, but I don’t recall the solution, although the problem resolved. I initially thought it was simply that the photos were taking a very long time to upload to the iCloud but now I’m not sure and I doubt it.

Has anyone received definitive answers from Apple?
