Did the "critical" update last night and now battery power is dropping like a rock. Happened a few updates ago as well. That required an additional update to rectify the battery drain issue.

iPhone 6s, iOS 15
Since updating to iOS 15.7.1, my iPhone 7 battery level goes from 95% at 9pm down to 0%-3% by 7am next morning, and that’s with almost zero use and NO apps open/running. My phone used to be able to idle for days between charging. I had battery replaced 1 year ago and Battery Health shows 97%.
Any thoughts?
Same here. My battery health is 80%, and all was fine until I upgraded to IOS 15.7*? I was on IOS 14 before and the battery would last about 5 days! Now, it's draining within 12-16 hours. And it will suddenly go down to 1%, then I do a soft or hard restart and it jumps up to 88% (on low power), and then I can literally watch it go down in 1-2% increments every few seconds. I have nothing running the background etc.

An iPhone battery lasting 5 days is unbelievably unusual.
Do you have any deactivated SIM cards in your phone? I thought getting rid of it would drain the battery but instead it helped it. And why isn’t my iPad Air 2 affected? It can even last 2 weeks. My friend’s iPhone 7 is doing just fine.
iPhones are designed to run on the iOS they were released on. Newer iOS software may drain the battery.
iPhone 6s - same problem. My battery shows 100% in health, but drains from a full charge to 33% in less than 4hrs. I love my phone and this upgrade really stinks!!!
It's been more than 72 hours since I've updated and battery is still tanking. My battery life is 92% and is supporting normal peak performance on an original SE. Any ideas?
Can you show us an Apple document that supports your claim?
It's a 2017 first gen SE, and I replaced the battery 1.5 yrs ago. It's been a workhorse. Will upgrade to the new SE at the end of the year.
Upgraded the phone. 15.7.1 was the last for the 6s and the phone is no longer supported.

Amazing. That number should be in the 90% range.
ios 15.7.1 just kills the battery. there is an hour to complete discharge. In the cold, it discharges from 100% to 1% in a couple of minutes!!!
I’m sure they want us to get a new phone every year, but here I am, posting this with my iPhone 6s.
iOS 16 has been annoying recently. I preferred earlier iOS anyway.
iOS 15.7.2 helped a little, but my phone is usually
at 1% in the morning if I didn’t charge it overnight.
Best thing you can do for your battery is plug the phone into the power adapter and let it charge overnight.....every night.
