How to Disable Automatic Link Previews in MacOS Ventura

It appears there is a new *feature* in MacOS Ventura (v13.0) where Mail automatically changes URLs to Link Previews in rich text emails.

But I would rather NOT have it automatically change them — I prefer to have the URLs spelled out — and I cannot find a way to turn this feature off.

A colleague said he read somewhere that once you manually change it back that the application will recognize and not do it again. This did not work for me.

Anybody know how to make it stop making the Link Previews? Help...

This feature is super annoying for people that send e-mails including multiple links and build up their own workflow for that over years and it's absolutely unbelievable that there is no option to turn this off.

?

if you hover your mouse over the link proper you see the mouse over popup for the the URL...

if you move your mouse to the end of the link you see the carrot (v) which when clicked will present a Quick Look of the destination URL/site.

As far as I can tell there is no change here, unless I am missing something(?)

As a workaround pressing ⌘K, pasting the URL into the the text field and clicking OK will insert the URL as a link without converting it into a 'preview'. Without leaving the keyboard it's ⌘K, ⌘V, return – faster than clicking the arrow and converting it back that way. There definitely needs to be an option to disable it globally though.

Oh my, this needs to stop.. Pretty please! Maybe a tickbox option to turn this off for ever in the advanced settings?
It is single handedly the most useless, slow and layout disruptive feature ever to grace the Mail interface (which I otherwise like).
Please!

Apple, please: make things that complicate life an option, not a default. This "feature" and other annoyances such as the removal of templates will make me abandon Apple Mail very soon.

I would point out that Apple probably doesn't care wheter or not you use their Mail app. In fact, if you decide to go with an app costs money and you buy it throught their App Store, that is of greater benefit to them.

Please, Apple. STOP your persuasive image-preview.

Are you using Sonoma? If so, the issue appears to have been resolved. You can read the post that was published immediately before yours for details.
