Ventura: Filemaker 19 Printing Problem
In Ventura Filemaker 19.5.4.401 cannot print all data in a list. It only prints one dataset (one line in a list).
In Ventura Filemaker 19.5.4.401 cannot print all data in a list. It only prints one dataset (one line in a list).
Claris confirmed another printing bug to me:
After setting the amount of pages to a higher number (e.g. 50), printing, closing Filemaker Pro and starting again, the page amount does not reset to 1 as it should be.
This is the answer from Claris:
-The engineers could reproduce the described issue and, therefore, an official investigation has been carried out.
-This week Claris have release a new software update, version 19.6, for all FileMaker 19 products. This update, while being now successfully tested on Ventura OS devices, did not take into account the recent bug report raised. This means the engineers will be working on the bug for new forthcoming software updates to come later in the new year.
-As it stands, the issue could be reproduced both on FileMaker Pro versions 19.5.4 and 19.6.1.
-Temporarily, as a workaround, they suggest you to stick to the built-in scripts features available with FileMaker Pro 19 application, in order to have control over printing. The following one taken from the product official guide might help:
Thank you for the hint.
I downgraded to Monterey.
Ventura has too many problems for me at the moment - a bag of bugs.
Hi Old Toad,
thank you for the hint. I had clicked "Records being browsed". Just the screenshot showed the "Current Record"
Did FIleMaker "Records being browsed" print correctly for you?
The problem occurs with my following printers:
Kyocera P5021cdn via Ethernet
Brother HL-L2340D via WIFI
I am also using FM Pro 16.0.6 which was just released very recently. If the bug was fixed for this version, it did not solve my "one at a time" printing problem for my most often used database. Other databases are printing multiple records perfectly normal. I'm on Ventura 13.2 on an Intel iMac.
Somehow, I am suspecting the age of this database could be the root of the problem. It was originally written in FM Pro 6 and reconstructed into a set of relationals when FileMaker added relational to the set of tools. I think that was somewhere along version 8 or 9. I guess that makes it silver haired just like me. :)
None of the previous suggestions solve the problem. Unless someone has any further ideas, I think I'm looking at writing a new database from scratch.... maybe in FM Pro (since it has been my pal for 25+ years) or I should look and see what there is to do the job this database has been doing.
Thank you. Tested; worked perfectly. If you were nearby, I would high five hands with you. I do very little printing from the several databases that I maintain. One of them has an invoice run of typically 40-50 items once monthly. So I didn't want to invest time with adding/testing new scripts, etc.,etc... along with the hope that Claris would fix whatever the bug is.
You might post the script here for others to be able to use.
Sorry I did not, I was in too much of a rush and had too many other things going to reboot like that.
Please old Toad, stop with this nonsense answers please...
Thank you, thank you.. The first really helpful work-around i found to really solve this bug for the time being. THANKS!!
