After update to iPadOS 16.1 I noticed some visible lag when writing on iPad, notes app. Sometimes, the object erase is also not responding but pixel eraser works. Tried, restarting iPad, re-pairing Apple Pencil to no avail.
This didn't happen before I update my M1 iPad Pro 11inch.

I deleted the new app "Freeform".
After that, new notes, and notes created before IOS 16, came back to life. The couple of notes that I'd created under IOS 16, with Freeform installed, were still broken.
saw a post on reddit discussion. If you use the keyboard in the middle of note then start to use pencil below lag disappears. Very interesting.
I’m having the same issue. Nothing has worked followed every Apple Support suggestions.
Please Apple fix , I didn’t have this issue in iOS 15
I have an iPad Pro 12.9’’ M1
I even lost some parts of the notes taken. I guess the isssue may be with the notes app itself.
The problem persists, I even turned off the iPad then back on, and for some minutes the lag dissapeared but then came back again.
This is a big issue, as the notes app suddenly became useless.

Tried what it described above and the problem persists. Restarting the iPad still does not help. This have been preventing me from using the iPad
Same here. It starts ok, with no lag, but then the lagging increases to the point I have to stop taking notes.
I also noticed that my iPad Pro gets REALLY hot when the lagging becomes bad.

To add to the voices, seeing the same issue.
There is a severe lag when using Apple Pencil in iPadOS 16.1.1. Issue has started since iPadOS 16.1. Notes is almost unusable at times.
Updated to 16.2. Still have the issue..
I'm using Ipad Pro 12.9(3rd gen) I got the same issue. Drawing Long line has no problem but when I draw dots or shot lines, it starts to lag. Apple, do something with this problems!!
Updated to 16.2, and the issue persists... prolongs my hours of study (haiku)
It works!! Even After I deleted the letter I typed, it's working!!
