BATTERY DRAIN DRAMATICALLY ON IOS 16.1.1

I purchased the iPhone 14 Pro Max the battery was okay not as good as my previous iPhone 13 Pro Max which was a legend. It’s annoying how my battery has been dramatically draining so fast on my latest iPhone 14 pro max after the iOS 16.1.1 update apple should really fix this we were promised a better battery life which should be an hr better then the 13 pro max not lesser by 5hrs it’s barely lasts through the next day when I used to get 2 days of 13 pro max. Come on apple I’m really considering selling my latest iPhone and get last years one!

Writing this now, my 13 Pro has been on for just 2 and a half hours with on call made over wifi, not been outside on cellular yet and I have just 56% battery left. That is extreme on battery usage, must be something wrong. Also when arriving in a new country the data roaming don't kick in automatically anymore since 16.1.1, I have to go into settings and toggle it to connect. I hope this is a bug in the software because I can't be replacing a fairly new phone or battery so soon.

Guys Go to the battery settings & turn off the optimized battery charging, Switch off your iPhones and then turn it back on. Leave it to die then connect it to the charger let it charge from 0 - 100% hopefully it will stop draining I tried doing that and thank God it’s getting back to normal you’ll even notice it on your battery activity. I wish you all the best ! just follow my steps I hope it will get back to normal. If it doesn’t work let’s hope the upcoming updates fixes all the bugs and battery drain issues.

also keep an eye on the screen idle for some reason it’s getting higher then normal

Since the recent update, my iPhone battery is draining so fast that my phone is not usable unless I keep it connected to the charger. I basically don’t have a phone anymore once I leave my home as battery drains too fast. This is terrible! I have powered down and turned on my phone 3 times but the problem persists. Please please fix this issue.

Same issue as everyone else. I upgraded from 13 pro max to 14 pro max and totally regret it. I have tried all the fixes and nothing. My battery drains so fast even when I’m not using it. My 13 pro max had twice the amount of battery life which was the best in the world!! What happen Apple? Shouldn’t the 14 pro max be the same battery time? So disappointing it must be the software, please fix Apple. Waste of money…. need to go back to 13 pro max as that was the king in battery, definitely a downgrade to 14 pro max!!!

So on my iPad the battery drain is linked to the Find my? app. With a fresh installation everything is fine. Once I open the Find my? app and give it the locations permission, the draining begins.

On my iPhone 14 Pro, the battery drain is linked to the contacts app. It's stuck in a syncing loop with iCloud. I identified that when looking at the 10 day battery usage summary. The contacts app has over 50% in my case. I also reset the mobile data statistics and within 5 mins, the contacts app accumulated 15MB of traffic. Turning iCloud sync off an on for the contacts app did not solve the issue.

Do you mean that since the update your maximum battery capacity has reduced by 3% in a week? I can't remember what my exact maximum capacity was prior to updating but I think it was higher than it is now. I have also experienced significant battery drain also and am currently trying the tip to turn off optimised charging as stated by another poster above.

I’ll try shutting off contacts to iCloud but this is absolutely ridiculous. I’ve spend hours researching and turning off every possible thing to stop this dreaded battery drain. Now I only have photos on automatic iCloud backup. This is maddening. My phone drains 10% per hour with very minimal running in the background. I’ve tried all the work around tricks to get more out of the battery. People will say 10 hours of battery life is good but that’s not what I paid for. I’m dreading to call AT&T tomorrow because they are just going to suggest everything I’ve already done. At this point I just want the phone swapped out. I’ve used iPhones exclusively since they came out and this is very disappointing. I just bought a 30v because it took 8 hours to charge from zero to 100% yesterday with my 12v charging cube. Rapid battery drain and extremely slow to charge. Hopefully the 30v charger at least solves the slow charging.

This worked for me! I turned off automatic backup for contacts to iCloud and my battery drain issue appears to be solved. How or where did you come across this info to turn off automatic contact backup? My battery is at 76% after 13-1/2 hours since charged to 100%. Normally it would have been dead by now or even after 10 hours I would need to charge it. This is amazing now! I should be able to have notifications turn on and a bunch of things being able to back up automatically and the battery not get massively drained but for now I’ll take this. I had previously turned off any possibly battery draining setting without improvement but my contacts backup I left on so I know for sure this was my issue. After typing this post I would have lost 2-3% but I’m still at 76% like when I started. I did have much less screen time today than usual but the battery improvement is 100% better. Thank you

I am beside myself as well. I've never had a battery drain after an update and yes, they pushed this one hard. It's disgraceful that this was not one of the issues addressed on any online discussion or article. I did my research because I always do so thoroughly before an update. I am a looong time Apple gal and frankly, I'm going to check out Android, because this is not acceptable. Hey Apple, get it fixed.....
