BATTERY DRAIN DRAMATICALLY ON IOS 16.1.1

The battery drain on iPhone 14 pro max is significant. Earlier I used to get a full day and over night and next day till I finish my morning workout. Now I need to put it on charge in the night. iOS 16.1.1 has surely messed up. Hopefully apple helps fix this.

I've tried restarting, force restarting as suggested in some forums.

Writing this now, my 13 Pro has been on for just 2 and a half hours with on call made over wifi, not been outside on cellular yet and I have just 56% battery left. That is extreme on battery usage, must be something wrong. Also when arriving in a new country the data roaming don't kick in automatically anymore since 16.1.1, I have to go into settings and toggle it to connect. I hope this is a bug in the software because I can't be replacing a fairly new phone or battery so soon.

Ddey91, this little trick has worked! After a day on customer service with Apple telling me to do loads of rubbish to conserve my 2 month old battery when I knew there was no issue, only issue is the IOS update.

one question have you turned back on the battery optimisation after the on/off routine?

Do you mean that since the update your maximum battery capacity has reduced by 3% in a week? I can't remember what my exact maximum capacity was prior to updating but I think it was higher than it is now. I have also experienced significant battery drain also and am currently trying the tip to turn off optimised charging as stated by another poster above.

Cell Data usage of contacts showed 350mb , a text file with only 500 phone numbers in it would take a few kilobytes maybe. 

Guess how many times phone down-up loaded that kilobyte long data. Something must have put contacts app in a loop. Dont know what was that. Maybe non english characters. Maybe some web link in a contacts info. 

Same problem with me on iPhone 14. Contacted Apple support yesterday and completed a full restore using the Mac. Charged phone to 100% around 12pm yesterday left phone on worktop with no use, checked phone at 8am this morning and battery at 4%. At the minute my phone is a paperweight. Only happened after the 16.1.1 update. Both wife and daughters SE 3rd gens are ruining perfect and they are using them constantly.

The day after the 16.1.2 update, I started noticing my case getting hot, and the battery would drain about 15% per hour, regardless of whether the phone was being used or not. Before that update, I would typically make it to bedtime without having to charge during the day.

It's maddening that an update can cause the battery to start draining like this. I've heard different people talk about apps that are using 40%-60% of their battery life (mine was the notes app -which wasn't being used). We shouldn't have to start shutting off apps, changing battery optimization settings, or turning off iCloud sync, etc., just because we updated the phone. I've used mine the same way for years with no issues.... until the update to 16.1.2. Apple needs to fix this right away.

My battery swelled up and broke the back glass. It was cause if all my problems. But didn’t happen until after the update. Had it repaired and was told that the update most likely caused the issue. Now I’m not having any problems.

Update: My wife‘s 12 mini is draining battery two days after the update.

From 80% to 0% in 4 hours.

First day after update from 16.0.3 to 16.2 was ok.

I‘m sure it is something with shared photo library on iCloud.

I spoke with Apple support over the phone. I shared my screen with them. They took a look at my battery performance which showed 100%. It was a waste of time but they told me to go into the Apple Store to speak with a Genius Bar person. I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon. I’ll let you know what happens.

I have the same for iPhone 13 Pro. Battery was fine before the update, drains like mad after it. Doesn't even last a full day.

Completed iOS 16.1.1 update. Very noticeable rapid battery drain noticed immediately on my iPhone 11. Not great.
