BATTERY DRAIN DRAMATICALLY ON IOS 16.1.1

I purchased the iPhone 14 Pro Max the battery was okay not as good as my previous iPhone 13 Pro Max which was a legend. It’s annoying how my battery has been dramatically draining so fast on my latest iPhone 14 pro max after the iOS 16.1.1 update apple should really fix this we were promised a better battery life which should be an hr better then the 13 pro max not lesser by 5hrs it’s barely lasts through the next day when I used to get 2 days of 13 pro max. Come on apple I’m really considering selling my latest iPhone and get last years one!

I went to bed at 11pm and until 1.30am my battery is fine that all of a sudden at 1.30am it starts to steadily deplete, I think when I went to bed the battery was around 90% and at 6am when I woke up it was on 44% so I’ve lost 46% over night with no screen time. Phone is 13 pro and battery health is at 91%

When my battery was going crazy and the settings change suggestions didn’t work, I did the downgrade as well using the certified 16.1 that I downloaded and restored using my MacBook Air (I googled “restore to previous iOS for the instructions”). I chose the restore apps from App Store option as well and then my backup forced me to go to 16.1.1 before it would finish. When I finally got back in, everything appeared to be running fine until I made the one phone call and my phone got really hot. I let it sit for awhile and checked for more updates and did a reboot and no issues since. I just updated to 16.2 on Christmas Eve and everything still seems fine.

I guess if you’re having issues you should wipe and restore plugged into a computer. I think it’s safe to backup first as long as you’re restoring from the certified file to fix your OS before restoring a backup.

Apple didn’t call me back today as scheduled for follow up. The computer plug in restore and not transferring entire contents from iCloud (only photos will download, contacts and messages, not apps or settings) definitely improved my battery between charges. Like I said in a previous post, I was getting about 10-12 hours (total actual hours, not screen time) from 100% to 0 prior. I’m able to get around 20 to 22 hours now from 100% to 0 (this includes while sleeping and phone not in use and is not total screen time hours, it’s actual hours). I have always on display on with no additional widgets. Screen light to 50% and every friggin option you can have off to conserve battery. I don’t have any apps running in the background and only photos backing up to iCloud when it’s n Wi-Fi. Contacts I’ll just turn iCloud backup on once a week or every other week for a day to backup. Same with messages. So although it doubled the battery time between charges, I’m nowhere near people saying they can go two days in between having to charge their 14 Pro Max. I’m glad it improved but it’s not what it’s supposed to be. What do others think? How many hours can you go in-between 100% full charge down to zero? Maybe 20-22 hours is fair for using my phone an “average” amount of time daily. How many hours in-between charges are people getting?

I was down to around 4-6 hours between charges (screen brightness on minimum, always-on display set to off, no widgets, lots of features turned off to extend battery life) prior to upgrading to 16.2. Now after upgrading to 16.2 I'm losing about 35% battery across 24-hours with more normal (heavier) use, though always-on display is still set to off.

Go to the battery settings & turn off the optimized battery charging, Switch off your iPhones and then turn it back on. Leave it to die then connect it to the charger let it charge from 0 - 100% hopefully it will stop draining I tried doing that and thank God it’s getting back to normal you’ll even notice it on your battery activity. I wish you all the best ! just follow my steps I hope it will get back to normal. If it doesn’t work let’s hope the upcoming updates fixes all the bugs and battery drain issues.

also keep an eye on the screen idle for some reason it’s getting higher then normal

I think I somehow I resolved the problem. First think I did was to change 5G auto to LTE, afterwards I put the phone in low power mode, then disabled Find My app from useing location, deactivated find iPhone in system services. Then I opened Find My app and deleted Apple AirTag… After that I enabled location for Find My app and activated find iPhone in System Services. After 20-30 minutes I put the phone in normal mode. For now it appears everything as normal. Lost 9 % in 3 hours with YouTube 60 minutes, Waze 30 minutes, Safari 15 minutes, WhatsApp, with LTE and WI-FI. That’s on iOS 16.2. Hope it will work normal.

When I first got this phone when I first got this phone it would last literally all day and still have 30% when I got home after a 12 hour day

Battery would not last until lunch now just had professionally installed a new battery in my iPhone X same old same and the battery is at 100% capacity using standard slow wall charger at night. Starting to feel like the update is designed to kill older phones so we will upgrade.
