iPhone text notifications are very loud

I have IPhone 14 pro max. When I'm on a phone call if I receive a text, the sound will be so loud on the speaker that's on my ear while on a phone call.

This never happened on my older Iphone's as they will only vibrate if I'm on the call.

I called apple support and lady couldn't find any setting that would put text and other notification on silent or lower the volume while on the phone call.

Is there a solution or should I return this phone to Apple since every other phone in this universe doesn't make you deaf by loud text tones while your phone is on your ear during a call.

My wife and I had this exact same issue and we were able to re-create it, and stop it from happening. I think it’s still a bug and I don’t know exactly why it’s happening, but this is what happened to us.

If we power off our Apple Watch and then take the phone call and have a text message received then the loud noise from the text message notification will echo in your ear while you’re on the phone call. As everyone stated, this is actually quite painful and unsafe.

However, if we power the Apple Watch back on and repeat the same test being on the phone and receiving a text message, then we no longer get the loud text message notification in the ear while we were on the phone call.

We can repeat this over and over, don’t know for sure why this is happening. Our Apple watches line share with our phones and we also have Verizon service.

Hopefully, Apple will be reading these forums, and this user experience will be helpful for them to diagnose and fix the problem.

We have iPhone 14 Pro’s, and I have the Apple ultra watch and my wife has the Apple series 8 watch.

Both of our Apple iPhones are at 16.2 OS. Both of our Apple watches are at 9.2 OS.

OK, I posted the last post on Sept 14. While it did temporarily fix the issue, today is Sept 22 and the issue is back. Extremely annoying. Don't know if I should waste my time going back to the Apple store. Sorry everyone :-(

I used a JPN varient (ESim+Physical SIM) had the issue. Apple support has been taken a remote control of my Mobile, and checked all the possibilities. It was not resolved. Is any other varient models having the same issue?

That’s not true, all iPhones have proximity sensor and automatically lower the volume of notifications if you’re on the phone call! It’s been like that since iPhone 4s until iphone 14 pro max that I own now..

is there an update for this or how to fix the issue? when i use my airpods the sound blows out my ear drum and I literally can't hear anything out of my one ear because the notification sound is so loud. I have gotten in to the habit of putting it on silent when on calls but that is ridiculous that I have to that with a brand new iphone. Sometimes I forget and now I can't hear out of one ear.

iPhone 15 and this issue is still not fixed.

if they could ad least turn the Volumen down on the notification as to not interfere with your phone call.

It is super loud in the earbuds.

Always amazes me that such basic simple things are being still not being addressed after 15 versions of iPhones.

Meanwhile on Android, you hear a gentle chime that is non obtrusive during a call no matter what notification tone you have set. I shouldn’t have to go through so many steps just to keep my ear from being blown out every time I’m on a call.

I bought the 14 Pro Max expecting greatness but it more feels like a waste of money never had issues with the XR’s. I as well have had this nightmare issue with a text almost deafening during a call. APPLE I WILL NOT WASTE MY TIME ANYMORE FIX IT OR REPLACE IT THERE ARE MANY GREAT PRODUCTS OTHER THAN YOURS JUST ABOUT READY TO SWITCH AND THIS IS A CUSTOMER SINCE THE ORIGINAL IPHONE👎👎🤬

Why should we have too. Didn’t have to do this on all the other iPhones only the 14. It’s something wrong in the coding that needs to be fixed

It’s still happening to me, it’s so loud I just can’t stand it. Next step is I’m gonna go to the store and get a new Sim number assigned since they don’t use Sim cards anymore. So irritating!!
