Ventura 13.0 plays excessive sounds

Since upgrading to Ventura, my Mac plays sounds when I send a text message and two sounds when I receive a text - both the sound I set/want ("Note") and some other background notification sound (sounds like "Breeze" but maybe slightly different). I already turned off the "Play user interface sound effects" setting within Settings -> Sound and that seemed to fix it for a few days, but then the sounds returned. Is there some other setting I'm missing?

To trouble shoot further you can:

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.
