I have read it here 9 solutions to Fix Move iPhone a Little Lower/Higher Issue While Setting Up Face ID, that gently tap, smack or hit the notch with the palm of your hand and this might fix this issue, there are many other solution too but I have seen this solution is working for many people, so give it a try.

I genuinely can not believe this worked for me too.... What in the world. I went to the Genius Bar and everything. They did hardware tests.. nothing wrong. They told me to take it home and do a factory reset and see if it worked then.. it didn't. Then I found this feed and I,too, smacked my iphone with the heel of my hand. And it let me set up Face ID! Canceling my second Genius bar appointment lol

If it should fail you again and you cannot register, then take it to a genius bar and have them do a hardware diagnostics. My first diagnostics was done with Apple remote support, and they couldn’t find anything either. So I’m guessing at that particular moment, the hardware piece was working, but then, when I took it into the genius bar, they found that it was not working. So if you try to register or it’s acting up on you, then don’t slap it. Set up an appointment with the genius bar And then when you get there and be sure sure to try and use it. Hopefully it fails when you try to use it in there watching you do it then hopefully when they do a hardware test they can find something wrong with it. At that point that’s how I found I was having hardware issues.

After slapping my phone, and being able to set up Faceid again, my apps stopped recognizing my face after I put on a magnetic phone cover! When I took off the magnetic phone cover my apps were able to recognize my face again. In fact, I believe once I got that phone cover with a magnet sticker, that is when my Faceid stopped working! When my Faceid couldn’t even be set up anymore. Yet the slap did help. So if any of you are having Faceid problems make sure to stop using a magnetic phone cover.

The swift smack on the screen with my palm worked for me too, I’m so surprised! (I have an iPhone 13). I smacked the middle of the screen first with my palm and when that didn’t work I smacked a little more toward the top of the screen and it worked! My Face ID had stopped working so I tried resetting it only to get that dreaded “move your iPhone a little lower” message repeatedly. I also tried restarting and loading the latest software per instructions online but to no avail. As a last straw I tried the smack and my face started registering! Thank you for posting that and good luck to all!

I purchased a phone case that came with a magnet sticker. The magnet sticker caused my Face ID set up to stop working. I’d fix it by smacking phone, put my magnetic case back on and my Faceid would stop working again!! There are MagSafe cases and I purchased one that has no magnet yet the phone magnet still works with the MagSafe case.

Y’all!! I’ve been googling all day on how to reset my Face ID after issues started yesterday and NOTHING helped. I finally stumbled upon this thread, and of all things that would fix my Face ID issue but a few slaps on my palm! It took me back to slapping the fat back tv days 🤣🤣, but it did the job! I took off my good screen protector as a last ditch effort 🥴. Let’s hope I can get it back on with no more cracks! Thanks to everyone who suggested and tried and replied back! ❤️
