Magic Trackpad haptic feedback not working after Ventura update on Macbook Pro

I have a macbook pro 2020 and the haptic feedback stopped working. It was running Ventura but I don't think it stopped working at the same time as the update.

I have been living in a climate around 30 C so I thought I would try the opposite of your trick. I put the mac in the refrigerator for about 45 minutes. When I took it out, after a few moments the haptic feedback worked again! Then it briefly stopped working for a minute before returning (for good?).

It's possible that this could have seriously backfired. Heavy condensation formed on the outside of the laptop. I let it warm-up/dry-off while placing it on the table, fully opened with keys & screen facing down so that if condensation formed inside, it would not drip on the motherboard. Not sure if this helped but, in any case, it's still working at the end of the day.

Mine's been like this for the last couple of versions of MacOS so not sure it would make any difference. There's probably little choice but to try as Support will not want to engage further until you've tested with a downgrade.

MacOS Monterey 12.6.7 (21G651) here, same problem.

A few weeks ago, this happened, and I tried most of the remedies listed here: unpairing and re-pairing, pairing to a different Mac and then back to the one where I want it, somewhere in there a reboot probably happened. Got it to work again.

This week, nothing helps, even overnight in the freezer.

I could live without "haptic feedback" from the device, but I need a way to mouse-down-hold to drag things around for the device to be useful rather than annoying.

MacBook Air (Intel 2020) Inbuilt Trackpad stopped working after upgrading to Sonoma 14.0.

Actions:

Didn't work: Ran diagonstic

Didn't work: SMC Reset, and Reebot

Didn't work: Using Paper edge to clean trackpad gaping

Worked: Heating trackpad using Hair dryer and simultaneously cleaning trackpad gap using Paper edge (while doing this, keep the device turned off and let it cool down before restarting)

I have the same issue with my 2017 Macbook Pro 13" (A1708).

I bought a used trackpad on eBay and replaced it myself. The haptic feedback is working now.

This is the parts that I used: But check the model number to ensure the parts are compatible with your MacBook Pro.

Previously I tried resetting NVRAM, etc, but none worked for me.

Same probleme here with my Trackpad 2 on 2014 5K 27" iMac under BigSur 11.7.6...

No more haptic feedback since *today*. All I can do is activate the "touch for click" option. Now I can click, but drag and drop is not operating. My trackpad is otherwise in very good apparent condition, was always kept safe on the desk, never fell...

As a matter of fact the issue showed right after few days of warm weather. I tried the refrigerator fix, but did not work :(

I’m having the same issue with the same MBP (2017 15”), but for me it started following a more recent Ventura update – to version 13.5 (22G74).

I’ve tried all the fixes in this thread that do not involve changing the temperature of my laptop or the trackpad (I don’t have a hair dryer, among other reasons).  

Strangely, I'm having the same issue when using the Magic Trackpad with my iPad as well – i.e., it works but no haptic feedback. This was not the case prior to the above-referenced Ventura update for my MBP.

Is there an actual fix for this that doesn’t involve a hairdryer, a freezer, or a "heat gun"?  Please??  Thank you!

I have got the same issue on my MacBookPro. Whats going on apple? I am paying these high amounts of money and when updating, the trackpad is not properly working anymore? This really should be resolved !!

Same situation on my side, unpairing and pairing didn't help. Tried to connect it to my other macbook pro with ventura and it wasn't working neither.

I've been trying to resolve this for months but to no avail. Nothing I've tried has returned the haptic feedback to either of the trackpads we have in this house. What gives?

After ~48h in the fridge, the haptic feedback is back on the track(pad)! Amazing 🤪

Let's see how permanent is the fix...

This is absolute apathy from Apple. So many people are facing this issue after upgrades.
