AirPods Pro 2 case tracking not working.

I recently got the new AirPods Pro 2 and the tracking for the case isn’t working. It doesn’t even show up on my find my app. I have the iphoen xs max, could that be the reason why it’s not working? I don’t have the money to buy a new phone though.

Hi Chris,

I kind of have the same problem. I have a Iphone 13 pro max.

My phone is fully up to date, with all the latest software updates.

I just got the airpods pro2.

But no matter how many times i have tried to rest my airpods. Or even turn my phone on and off.

I am unable to find the case in the find my devices app. it shows me the airpods but not the case.

Is there anything I can do?

Nothing online seems to talk about the case not showing up as if its a given and no one els has this issue.

  1. Turn off Low Power Mode.
  2. Reset > Privacy & Location Services > Find My app
  3. Toggle from "While Using" to off, wait 2 seconds, toggle back on
  4. Toggle from "Precise Locate" to off, wait 2 seconds, toggle back on
  5. Wait 20 - 30 seconds, then Open FindMy.app

My case had fallen out of my jacket pocket, and I was unable to find it, thinking it was in the car, however after some time, I had physically located the case sitting on the floor near my jacket. WITHOUT touching the AirPods Pro Case (Lightning version), I found this forum post, and read about resetting the Privacy and Location services.

The ear buds were at 18%, last time they were in the case was 4 or so hours ago. Once FindMy "polled the network" at which point, Find My did a new review of the surrounding items, and the Case showed up, even though the buds (both L and R) were sitting on my desk.

Another guess is that in Low Power mode, which both my iPhone and iPad were in, was delaying the FindMy updates from happening. The RESET of the Permissions for Privacy came from another post that I read.

The reset instructions above required NO restart from my iPhone.

Good luck.

Hi Chris, That method doesn’t work. It’s a known issue. I spoke to apple a few days ago I was on the phone for 2 hours going through their diagnostics and in the ind they quoted me 7-14 days for an engineer to get back to me. In the end I replaced my AirPods Pro as I’ve only had them for 2 days and surprise surprise they work fine. Guy in the store did say it’s a known issue. Been going on since September 22 and now we’re in May 22 no software to resolve the issue as of yet. Good look for those who hasn’t replaced them let me know how long it takes and what apple are advising you please.

Why a big company like Apple that prioritizes the quality and the customer experience doesn’t care about the problem? We already bought them…but support belongs to the company too.

Anyways after wasting hours in this topic “Why AirPods case don’t show in FindMy”, I reset them a few time, try different iPhones, Apple Account and everything stills the same! I do a lot of exercise with them they were a bit dirty, I cleaned precisely the AirPods case and each EarPod and started working. When I open the find my app I didn’t believed, but yeah just try clean your AirPods Case and Airpods and check.

I got the exact same message. I got mine replaced from the store I bought them from. Apparently it’s an issue on apple side and if you take them to an Apple Store to investigate they will replace them. I tried everything their help team advised tbh I wasted hours chatting to them not very helpful. My advice to get apple to replace them.

My airpods SEEM perfectly fine, but I have a problem, currently I'm trying to find out if it's because of my Iphone x or the airpod pros 2nd gen. When I first connected to, the pop-up screen said i needed the latest version of IOS. So I click on the pop-up where it says "check for update" and once it loads, it says towards the bottom "This iphone is updated to its latest version of IOS". I've come to terms with the fact I'm living in 2018 still, with the iphone x. Maybe it's my old phone, but my aunt and brother have the latest titanium iphone, and their version is the latest at version 16.5 but mines is at its very own latest version of 16.6.7. It's very odd and annoying because I've lost the left side and Find My is absolutely useless. I've exchanged it for a new pair of airpods this afternoon and it still has problems with Find My. I'll be forced to buy the latest iPhone if I want the top quality sound I bought it for.
