I just reset our Apple Homepods but when I go to invite the rest of my family they do not receive the invitations? I have updated the software on their phones and everyone is running the latest iOS versions. I have cancelled the invitation and tried reinviting them and still they receive nothing. What can I do to fix this? Why do they not give the option to send invitations by iMessage or email?
Apparently this procedure posted on Reddit solved the problem!!!
Putting it here in case this may be useful for others too.
I did it the RESET only on my wife iPhone (not mine which is the home owner).
Before this, I also "removed" the home app from my wife phone and re-installed it back.
Then applied the profile reset below.
After some minutes of waiting, the invitation was received and she was able to join the home again.
download and launch the HomeKit reset profile Safari on both mobile devices (looks like they change the link periodically, so be advised link may be dated): http://appldnld.apple.com/iOSProfiles/HomeKitReset.mobileconfig (note: you can try first on just the one device and avoid full reset, but I was forced to do both devices)
install the profile on both devices then go to settings to install the profile per these instructions: Install a configuration profile on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
restart both devices (may be optional, but doesn’t hurt)
go to settings and scroll down. You should now see a “Home” icon to open then select to “Reset Configuration.” WARNING: this wipes out all your HomeKit accessories and settings. You will need to start over.
open HomeKit app on both devices. They said to leave app open for 10 minutes, but mine reset in a minute. This should force reset your configuration keys.
to test, I added a single HomePod mini to a new Home and then invited spouse. She accepted easy breezy.
It took over a month to get through support to this solution. Hope it saves someone some time and frustration. Good luck!

This is really annoying and not acceptable for Apple! I reseted all my home accessories, scenes and automations which is not simple task to rebuild everything again. I hope I won’t need to redo it when a fix will be available.
@Apple please fix it ASAP!!!
Thanks for the update... This is a step I was very reluctant to try... I had too many devices attached on my HomeKit, some devices and programmed scripts are connected to third party Hub like Alexa, Lutron and Philips Hub...etc ... That will be a MAJOR Task to reprogram and start all over !

Appreciate the Update ! At least we know that it's being worked on. I have some older iPlugs that are no longer support by iHome, removing it Off the Home App will be permanently disengaged from Home APP & not longer to install them into Home App again... the Belkin SmartPlugs don't seems to work well... keep dropping off in my network..
Resetting the Home App completely will be a massive upgrade of devices and reprogramming .. not sure how other devices will continue to work ...
I have the same issue, it’s very irritating to spend money on tech that doesn’t work as intended. It’s even more irritating to learn you’re not alone and the manufacturer isn’t doing anything to address it. I’ve had my fair share of bad experiences with Apple lately, from a bad return to not processing my order and having to constantly reach out to them…I am returning this POS and buying a non apple speaker.
The corporate attitude at Apple always come across as they are above the concerns of the poor, dumb customers. It doesn’t matter that the online instructions don’t work. Would it be so humbling to admit that there is an issue that is taking too long to fix.
Did that. Get the Welcome to Home pop up. Click Continue, and end up where I started. Only thing in the 3-dot menu is Home Settings, which brings up the default Add Home (name) My Home, with my wife showing as Owner; no option to accept invite. Suggestions?
Every time someone like G_Wood posts steps that result in a successful invite, I very carefully follow the approach. I really thought this might be the time—G_Wood was so explicit in instructions. Nope, nope, nope! Totally frustrating. Home Pod Mini is a cute little paperweight. Air Play works with it sporadically.
Upgrade broke all my automation. To fix this they say delete the home and start again.
I've done that, but now I can't get anyone in my family to be able to switch on lights.
I hope a fix is coming soon as I've had about enough of Apple and HomeKit.
The post below by marco202 solved it for me. Ran the profile on my fiancé's phone and it removed the old house and reset it, and she was immediately able to get an invite to the home. No need to redo my entire house on my phone. Simple and fast. Thanks for the heads up!
I'm experimenting the same issue. All devices updated to the latest iOS version, but no one isreceiving the invitations...
I'm not very confortable in trying random links and reset the configurations, that has been one for a couple of years, so I'm hopping a direct solution from Apple to this issue: no one at my family network is receiving invitations to HomeKit.
